49 JJ rallied a few minutes later and nearly ran into Teddy in the hallway. Exiting the bathroom, he looked a little worse for wear. His face and hair were damp, and there were water spatters on the front of his shirt. She tried to recall what he’d said about leaving Virgil. “When’s the last time you slept?” “I could ask you the same thing,” he said, smiling and stepping aside so she could take a turn at the sink.
