Chapter 5: Party Time

Alex, Jonah and I have just finished getting ready for the party as my mother knocked on my door. "It's time to head down boys, are you ready?" " Yes mother" I said as Alex responded with "Yes ma'am" and Jonah with "Yes Luna". " You know you only have to call me Luna when we are in front other packs Jonah, we have talked about this" she said. We all started walking down the corridor towards the elevators. Thank the moon goddess they have elevators here, I hate walking up and down flights of steps. I can't imagine how females navigate stairs in those heels they wear. As we reach the ballroom I can see that many have already found their mates and I can only hope that I'll be one of those lucky people. We walk around the room saying hello to the other alpha families present, and I can see disappointment on quite a few females faces as they realize they weren't mated to me. I continue to look around until I find a table with our pack name on it and decide I'll take a seat until the food arrive, I didn't eat very much lunch and now I'm starving. "There are so many beautiful women here, even if I don't find my mate there are a lot of prospects" says Alex. " Until you find your mate and she rejects you for being a man w***e or until your mom sees you and pulls you around by your ear in front of everyone" I laughed out. "It's not like I intend to do anything, just stating the obvious". I shook my head at him as Jonah joined us at the table. "I caught a delicious smell but I can't seem to find where it's coming from. It is making me so hungry I should have eaten more at lunch". " I was thinking the same thing I really hope they start serving food before too long. As far as I can tell though Red Dawns Alpha and family have not arrived yet" said Alex. " has anyone ever met his daughter? I didn't even know he had one until the announcements about the party and meeting" Asked Jonah " From what I've heard they found her quite a few years ago and she was in pretty rough shape, once they realized she didn't have any family Alpha Damon and Luna Ann Marie decided to adopt her." As soon as I finished my statement the ballroom doors opened again and in walked Alpha Damon and Luna Ann Marie, but my attention wasn't on them because right behind them was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life. "Is that her?!" "Look at her! They broke the mold when they made that angel" both Alex and Jonah said at the same time. I turned and growled at both of them although I'm not sure why. "What is going on Onyx?" I ask my wolf as he paces around my head. "Mate, my mate and everyone is looking at her! Claim her now!" I gasped and turned to look at her again. She is absolutely heavenly, from her golden brown hair and mesmerizing blue eyes to her shapely figure. Suddenly another male goes up to her and wraps his arms around her in a hug. I stand up and let out a loud growl that shook the crystal chandeliers hanging above us. All eyes turned to me as I stood there huffing trying to reign Onyx back in.

Mom knocks and walks into my room followed very closely by dad " thank the goddess you took my warning seriously and kept everything in order" my mom stated. My dad chuckled and said "you act as though we are raising a wild animal" my mom looked him dead in the eye and said with all seriousness "sometimes I feel as if I'm raising two wild animals with you two". I couldn't help it I bust out into a fit of giggles, well until mom turned and pointedly gave me "the look", you all know the mom look, the one that says I suggest you stop before I make you. I straightened up and asked " is it time to go down and get this over with now?" judging by the look I'm still receiving that wasn't a good choice of words. "Sorry mom, is it time to go down?" I said while looking down. I didn't want to seem ungrateful, I know my mom worked really hard setting this whole party up, it just wasn't my thing. "Yes it's time to go down, everyone should have arrived by now so you'll get to have a grand entrance." she squealed out as she clapped. Dad and I rolled our eyes at the grand entrance part, he knows I'm cringing on the inside but I'll be happy for mom. "Try to have fun Sky, for me" "I'll try mom" I said as I gave her a hug. "Let's get this show on the road then I've been dying to show you off since your father decided it was best to keep you hidden within the pack" dad rolled he eyes as he said " We will never know the reason for the rouges taking her let alone keeping her for as long as they did, you know it was safer to keep her identity within the pack" " I know love, but it will be nice to be able to show her off to the world now that she is older" my mom said as we walked towards the elevator. We had just stepped out on the bottom floor when I caught a hint of that chocolate coffee smell again. It's so faint I can't tell where or what it's coming from. I really hope that whatever it is there is still some left it smells delicious I thought as we walked to the ballroom doors. My mom and dad stood in front of me as the doors opened and we entered. As soon as we made it fully into the room Brett ran up to me and hugged me telling me how nice I look when I actually wear a dress. Just as he finished his statement we all heard a loud growl coming from straight in front me. I looked up to see who was growling and why, but as soon as my eyes landed on the male the growl came from I knew why he had growled. Brett slowly back away I said " s**t" my dad snickered at my remark but as my mom turned to look at me I could see she didn't find it funny at all. Slowly I started backing out, towards the door I just came from but my mom must have followed my train of thought because the next thing I know the ballroom doors are being shut. "Double s**t" I thought as I tried to find another exit. While I was distracted looking for a way out of this mess I failed to notice that delicious chocolate coffee smell was getting closer as well as my so called mate. As I looked around I saw that my pack members were slowly moving to cut off any exit points I may be able to use. Damn my mom is thorough, she has every exit blocked by this point as I turn to look at her I notice my so called mate standing in front of them introducing himself. " Alpha Damon, Luna Ann Marie, I'm not sure if you remember me, it's been a while since we've last seen each other but I'm Adam White next in line Alpha for the White Claw Pack" "Oh great, another Alpha this is going to be lovely" I thought, notice the sarcasm. "Yes we do remember you Adam, how are you doing? And your parents how are they?" " There are well and here somewhere mingling with the other Alphas and Lunas, I'm doing good as well ma'am" he replied. "Well it seems we will have some more matters to discuss this weekend other than the rouges" my father said as he shook his hand. I stood there dumbfounded as to what to do, but my next move was decided for me by none other than my mom. "This is our daughter Skylar Redfin" she said as he stepped forward. He gently took my hand in his, sparks seemed to erupt wherever he touched and at this moment I realized that delicious chocolate coffee smell is coming from him. He leaned down slightly as he brought my hand to his lips and kissed the back of it. He looked up into my eyes after he kissed my hand and said "It is an honor to meet you Skylar, my name is Adam White of the White Claw Pack". I stood there not speaking, moving or even blinking. My dad was the first to notice my lack of movement as he cleared his thought and stated "why don't you two take a minute in my office before rejoining the party" . "Traitor" I shouted at him over mindlink, he just chuckled, grabbed moms hand and started to walk away.
