Chapter 7: Understanding
I walked out of the ballroom with my hand wrapped around hers. Problem was this isn't my pack and as soon as I left the ballroom I had no idea where to go. " Hallway on your left, third door on the right" I heard Skylar say, I looked at her curiously, she must of figured out what I was thinking. After she told me she wasn't sure if she wanted a mate. I didn't know what to think, at first I was shocked because who wouldn't want their mate. Then it turned to hurt thinking of the many reasons she wouldn't want a mate. Was she in a relationship with someone else? The questions and scenarios were running through my head a million miles a second. I had to stop myself before I started blurting out everything coming to my mind. The first thing I was able to say was "Why?". As she told me it's because she thinks she is going to have to give up things that are important to her, I can't help but to think that it would be pretty messed up to expect anyone to give up anything important to them for the sake of being with their mate. She seemed relieved after I told her we could take things slow and get to know each other and that I didn't expect her to give up anything she felt important to be with me. I couldn't help but ask the question that's been nagging at the back of my head since I laid eyes on her hugging that man in the ballroom, and I couldn't have been more relieved to hear that he was her soon to be Beta and that they have no other relationship besides a brother/ sister relationship. Wait a minute her soon to be Beta? Is she going to be taking over the Alpha position? Is this why she is worried about finding her mate? Does she think she's going to have to give up her Alpha position to become Luna? I mean I could understand how she feels. I know I wouldn't be able to give up my title and position that I've worked so hard for. After I told her such, the next thing I know she's launched herself at me and I'm catching us right before we end up on the coffee table behind us. Not that I would mind, but I'm with her on wanting to get to know each other before we just jump in blindly. It's obvious she's had her own training and we will have different idea when it comes to running our packs. So I think it would be best to get to know each other and maybe we can work together to make our packs even stranger. I hope she is in the meeting with Alphas tomorrow. I would love to see how she is in a room full of Alphas, will she be a silent wall flower or will she be the ultimate female Alpha and put them all in their place? It will definitely be a sight to see, especially since many of the Alphas don't believe a female can be anything other than a Luna.
As we walk back to my table my Beta and Gamma jump up and walk over to us. " Adam who is this radiant beauty you've got on your arm?" Alex said. I punched him in the arm and said "eyes off you p*****t, unless you want them removed from your head because I can help you out with that." Alex chuckled and he turned to Skylar "My name is Alexander Collins but everyone just calls me Alex, I'm future Beta to this big dummy" he said as he back hands Adams' chest. "This is Jonah Smith and he is the future Gamma" he says as he goes to back hand Jonah's chest. Jonah quickly catches his hand before he can hit him and puts him in a chicken wing hold before he even has time to register what happened. I laughed so hard that I swear everyone had to have turned their head to see what was going on. After I finally could breath again I looked over to Jonah and said "I think we are going to be great friends". The rest of the night was great. My mom and dad came over at some point to steal me away they could "show me off" although Adam didn't let me get very far before he grabbed my hand and interlaced our fingers as he followed us around introducing himself as my mate. Now I'm laying in my bed thinking about the turn of events of the night. I can't believe I found my mate. Or that he was ok with me keeping my title, no fight at all. It was surprising but I couldn't be happier with the way things have turned out so far.
