Chapter Fifty-Four

Surprise, surprise, I get to meet the team John works with. It seems like we’ll be celebrating something. It doesn’t look like John knows what’s going on, as he also seems to be surprised by their presence.
I’m introduced to the entire team, and they are friendly, though it could be that they’d already started drinking before we got there. They’re in party mode, with music playing and a spirited energy in the air.
John makes small talk with some of the guys, and I know I’m the plus one at this party. A little out of my comfort zone, but I hope to have an opportunity to learn something more about his life. I wonder if I’ll be able to ask the girls some questions about him. I feel like I know him well, I’ve learned a lot about him, but there have to be some thing
