Chapter Twenty-Two

We walk down a steep staircase, and the clouds are looking darker and darker. I haven’t seen any storm warnings for these couple of days, but it is hot and humid. Having spent so much time in HaiNan as I have, I assume if it rains it will be heavy and fast, but then the sun will shine again.
We reach the bottom of the staircase on the wooden platform and follow it next to the stream. It doesn’t look as if it has been raining a lot recently. There are about two inches of depth of water running in the stream. A hundred meters down the walkway, we see we are on the edges of a rock pool enclosed with rocks, and a beautiful waterfall fills it on the other side.
