Becoming the Phoenix

Chapter 2

Mrs Weatherbourne, as she introduced herself, strode confidently across the room of the cell I was in. The police put me in here to rest till they could find out what to do with me. When they found me I was stood looking at the now burnt out trailer my clothes singed and stained from the fire. They attempted to ask me questions of what happened. But what could I tell them I didn’t know myself and the pain was to much knowing my best friend in whole world was gone and now even Glenn and Andrea where gone. Was it me that killed them I saw the flames coming from me, but I don’t know how that was possible. I had gone numb I couldn’t feel anymore everything ended when the words that Troy hadn’t made it.

Mrs weatherbourne sat on the edge of the bed next to me “ I run a school for kids of a supernatural nature” she said studying my reaction. But I hardly gave her one. although a school for the supernatural what did that mean. This has to be joke “ is this a mean joke. Don’t you think I have been through enough” I sighed just wanting to be left alone “ I assure you Taylor this is no joke. I know what you are and I know what happened last night. Is that the first time you have used your gift” she questioned. How did she know when even I wasn’t sure what happened “ I think so”. I nodded to her “ I think you should come and join us Ravenswood academy where we can teach you to use your gift and gain control of it.” She said. I agreed what else was left for me here I had no friends no family no where to live there was nothing. I had nothing to lose by going with her.

We’d been driving for hours I think I spent most of it asleep or daydreaming out the window Mrs weatherbourne had explained about some of the supernaturals that attended ravenswood. The were the vampires they where strong, fast and each had their own unique gifts aswell. Then there where the werewolves who can unpredictable at times and shift uncontrollably when angered. And the witches some very powerful ones. It was a lot to take to in. I couldn’t believe a place like this existed I though things like this only existed in movies. Mrs weatherbourne also explained that I was a Phoenix and that I was very rare no one had seen one in nearly three hundred years.

“Where here” Mrs weatherbourne said bringing me out my daydream I looked ahead the sun had set and and the darkness was looming in. we drove up the gravel drive up to two ginormous cast iron gates with flame tourches on either side lighting them up. Both gates opened the cranking of the metal echoed through thick forest laid out on either side of the car. We continued up the long driveway and there it was Ravenswood academy. It was a freaking castle. built with old worn down like stone with a large old oak door I looked up almost to the sky it had several towers attached to it. The darkness gave it Erie feeling it was almost frightening. I got out the car to take in more of the view. Mrs weatherbourne came and stood by my side “don’t be worried Taylor it’s not as scary as it looks” she tried to reassure me. I gave a weak smile back. Out of the shadows a boy appeared he looked about my age he was tall, with dark skin and fresh buzz cut and he was really big like muscular big even through what I assume is the school uniform you could tell it was all muscle. “Taylor this I Calvin, he’s been appointed to be your guide for next couple of days, just to help you find your way around” she said waving to the direction of Calvin “hi” I said it was hardly a whisper “Calvin why don’t you show Taylor to her room so she can settle in for the night it’s Been a long couple of days for her” she said giving me a warm smile “sure thing Mrs weatherbourne” he said his voice deep and gruff. Calvin began walking and I gave Mrs weatherbourne I little wave goodbye. “So your the Phoenix” he said with a smirk I just nodded back not sure what else to say on the matter. We walked around the castle then started to venture into the woods the darkness definitely added to the creepiness. Calvin must sense my hesitation “ don’t worry Taylor, the girls dorms around the back, the main building is just for classes” he said trying to assure me with a warming smile I nodded and continued to follow him. Calvin walked with confidence through the darkened woods I swear I could see shadows moving, then I saw bright yellow eyes looking right at me through the tree line and I stopped and gasped calving turned to look at me concern on his face and followed my gaze I heard a deep growl come from him and the eyes disappeared deeper into the woods as turned to face me again his eyes had a glow that was dimming I took a step back. “ I won’t hurt you I promise” he said holding his hands up. For some reason I believe him knowing he could probably kill me an instant I smile back at him letting him know I’m alright “ it’s just the wolves they probably picked up on your scent. They was probably just curious but be carful especially when they are in wolf form .. they can be unpredictable” he says almost looking apologetic but I remember Mrs weatherbourne saying that they we’re unpredictable. “Are you a wolf” I ask hoping iv not offended him. He gives me a little grin “yeah it will get easier to tell who’s who soon enough” he says as we stop in front of an old building, it not as old as the castle but you can tell it been for some time with the weather damage and the thick green layering of green moss.everything almost looks like something out of a horror movie, I mean I like a good horror film but never thought I’d be living in one “well this is you.” He says pointing to the old building “your on the second floor. I’d carry your bags up but it’s strictly forbidden for boys to be in the girls dorms and vice Versa” he informs me. “Thank you” I say to him almost nervous that he’s leaving me alone. “ I’ll meet you here at 8.30 and will grab breakfast before classes start, there should already be a uniform In your room”. He says and I thank him again and enter the old building making my way up to my room.
