“You might well live to regret that you will not sell oil for our temple worship, Samuel the oil-seller,” the man said ominously, as he left. Benjamin heard his words and looked over, concerned, but the man walked away. Then both father and son were kept busy serving customers for a while. When there was a breathing space, Benjamin asked, “Is it always this busy when a Holy Day is approaching?” “Yes, son,” Samuel replied as he turned to give a small jar of perfumed oil to one of the brethren, a regular customer, collecting the order he had made the day before. Overhearing the man laughed, and as he hurried away, Samuel recorded the purchase to his account. When the rush was over, Benjamin remembered, “Aima wants us home early tonight Abba.
