After a long day hearing cases and determining the sentences, Livvius Claudius Antonius was tired and looking forward to his bath and massage before the lavish meal his wife had organised.
Titus Calpernus, the new commander of the garrison hurried to meet him when he descended from his high seat of judgement.
“Sir, a word if you please.”
“I believe my wife has invited you to our meal tonight, can it not wait till then?”
“This I would not want to discuss before others.”
