Chapter 1

841 Words
(Alexia POV) A bucket of cold shivering water was dumped over my head and I screamed crouching down. The cold water felt like needles piercing into my skin. The fact that we are going into the winter season didn't help my situation. "I know you took it!" my half-sister, who is just a few months younger than me, hissed in anger. "What a disgusting thing! You are just like your mother, stealing things from others." My stepmother grew up with her usual disappointed look. Sometimes I wonder why god hates me. I was born to a weak mother who could barely afford to get a meal a day. Then on the day, I turned 11, she left the world, leaving me alone and in misery. 4 years later, I was picked up by a man who claimed to be my father. I came to be known as a family wreaker, an illegitimate child who is always looked down upon. The land of ELLESMERE is divided into four kingdoms, ruled by the four great ancestors of the Lycan families. The ruler of the kingdoms bares the blessed mark of the Moon Goddess and lives to bring great achievements. I was the illegitimate daughter of the alpha of one of the prestigious packs under the rule of the Northern kingdom. The pack is known through generations to be a member of the elder council of the kingdom of Eldara. A pack whose pride became tinted because of me. " I-I didn't st-steal anything." my voice was trembling from the cold. I was not even wearing proper winter clothes. It was something handed down to me when it was worn out by one of my two sisters. "You lier." I closed my eyes for another impact. This time the whip in her hand hit my thighs and I screamed in pain. "Shut it!" the mother growled, covering my mouth. "Do you want the whole pack to know?" I quickly shook my head a no, not wanting to get any more beating. "I will give you 12 hours. You had better give back my child's blue hair clip, or I will make you wish you died." Once they walked out of my room, I pulled my knees to my chest and started to cry. Yes, that's right. They hurt me and called me a thief because my sister lost her clip. A small goddamn clip. It's been two years since I was taken into the Kyree Family. Ever since that day, it's been nothing but misery for me. I am beaten, abused and even the animals here are given a better position than me. If there was an option, I would even have been killed by them. But the rule of the kingdom of the North prevented them from doing it. A child is not responsible for their birth and therefore, even if they are born illegitimate, they will have the same position as the legitimate daughter. There isn't even a day I wished that rule didn't exist. There isn't even a day when I wish they hadn’t found me. But there was no doubt I was a Kyree. I inherited their beautiful and unique blue eyes. The one thing that is the sole cause of my misery. If I hadn’t had these eyes, I would not have been found by my father. Even if I had lived in the street, it would be better than this. At night when I walked into the dining room, all eyes were on me. "Good evening, fa-father." I stuttered as he let out a tsk sound. He looked at me like a disappointment, but it was something I got used to. Quietly, I walked to my seat which was far away from them. My father sat at the center table while my step mother sat on the right side. The two sisters sat on his left, while I sat 3 seats away from the perfect family in front of me. "Who told you to sit!" my father's voice boomed, making me jump in fear. I stood up from my seat and looked at him with wide eyes. "Have you returned what you stole from your sister?" "I didn't steal it." tears filled my eyes as I looked into his bright blue eyes. "Don't lie!" he slammed his hand on the table and growled. "How dare you lie to me" I shivered as he used his alpha voice on me. "Father... please." I tried to plead. Being born a human, the alpha voice causes a greater strain on my body. I could feel the pain inside my head. "Go back to your room. Unless and until you give her back the thing you stole, you won't get anything to eat." I reached my room hungrily and worn out. I locked the door to my room and quickly climbed out of the window. I wish this misery would end. I wish I could run away from all of this. I wish I could be happy, just for a little bit.
