King Zavan’s mouth pressed into a grim line. “That is not for you to know.”
“I am not to know what condemned my family, to the point that you refuse to exonerate my brother?”
“Why must you push? Despite every allowance, every blind eye I turn, you only make more demands rather than being satisfied with how much you receive.”
Paige had said the same thing of me, and it had humbled me. But to hear it from the King made me roil.
