I bursts into my bedroom, slamming the door . How could he do this to me? After several minutes of crying, i took a deep breath and grabs my phone from the bedside table. I dials my best friend, Mary. Hey, Ella! What’s up? Mary, it’s me. I need to talk. Can you come over or pick up the phone? Of course. What’s wrong? My dad… He’s made this arrangement with the Thompson family. I have to marry their son. Wait, what? Are you serious? Yes. It’s all about a contract. He said it’s for financial stability. I didn’t have a choice. He’s already agreed to it. Oh, Ella, I’m so sorry. That must be incredibly hard. How are you holding up? I’m not. I feel like I’m being used. I don’t even know this guy. And my feelings don’t seem to matter at all. This is a lot to handle. Just remember, you have every right to be upset. You’re not alone in this. I’m here for you, and we’ll figure out what to do next. Thanks, Mary. I needed to hear that. I don’t know what to do right now, but I just needed to talk to someone. Let’s meet up. We can talk more in person, and I’ll help you through this. Just hang in there. Okay. I’ll wait for you. Thanks for being here for me. Anytime. See you soon. I ends the call and lies back on my bed, taking deep breaths to calm myself, feeling a bit of comfort from Mary's support.
