CHAPTER 23
“DO YOU KNOW that chap in that fish shop over there?”
She followed Barry’s gaze as he pointed out Ed Haskins waving at them from behind the counter of ‘The Cod Father’.
“Oh; he’s the brother of a good friend of mine.” Lyn waved back; glad that Ed was nearby for moral support.
“Well; where do you want to go then?”
Lyn thought that Barry sounded just a fraction irritable. She indicated towards the pub situated on the corner.
“We can go in the pub over there if you like.”
“Is the barman a friend of yours as well?”
“No; is he a friend of yours?” Lyn was finding Barry’s manner slightly off-putting, and had decided to ignore a hot flush and answer him in the same terse tone.
