Lyn gave silent thanks to the inventor of gas central heating, as within a short time the radiators were humming with life and there was enough hot water for a welcome shower. Not wanting to sleep in the double bed they had so recently shared, she made up one of the single beds in the spare room and sank gratefully down into the mattress, remembering to turn off her phone just at the last moment before sleep overcame her.
