Chapter 10 McCORD was not particularly gifted with the camera eye, but he had accustomed himself to a quick and fairly reliable inventory of immediate surroundings. Entering the main lobby of the Beverly-Plaza he had no trouble spotting as detectives two men who were trying to look like house guests. Obviously they were replacements for Wankowski and Healy, and just as obviously Faith and Charity Martin must be somewhere in the vicinity.
