Deanna’s chest was tight and her mouth went dry as she followed Chris into the mechanic’s shop. She did a double take when there was a pretty young Hispanic woman with long dark hair sitting behind the counter. Deanna had been under the impression there wasn’t normally a receptionist. “Hey, Krissi, I didn’t know you’d be here today.” Chris stepped up to the counter and smiled at the girl. “I try to come in at least one morning a week to keep things from falling too far behind.” Krissi motioned to a stack of work slips arranged in front of her. “A good plan.
