The moment the gunfire erupted, Victor shouted almost instinctively. “Cole, get out of the car!” His voice cut straight through the chaos inside the vehicle like a knife. Police cars aren’t bulletproof. Aside from the reinforced doors and parts of the frame, the rest of the vehicle is practically as flimsy as paper against rifle bullets. Staying inside the car at this range and under this firepower was like stuffing yourself into a tin coffin. Anyone who truly understood gunfights knew that the best position when trouble struck was outside the car, using the engine compartment, wheel wells and reinforced door panels to find whatever meagre but effective cover they could.
