FREDDIE “No, not my baby,” Tory woke me up with her whispers, her body sweating and tensed under the sheets. Raising my hand, I caressed her cheek, trying to gently wake her. Her eyes opened wide as she sat up, holding the hand I had on her face as she leaned against my shoulder. “I’m sorry for waking you up. You were having a nightmare,” I said, holding her in my arms. “It’s okay. I was just dreaming about the night of the accident. The doctor stood there, telling me the news. His voice was void of emotions, and it hurt so much.” She relaxed under my touch and calmed herself. “Why don’t you go to sleep a bit more, and I will prepare some coffee and maybe breakfast in bed?” I suggested, knowing she couldn’t see me, but I still raised my eyebrows in expectation of her response.
