That night we had barely gotten rest. After Daniel’s loss we had covered his mother with a blanket and had gone back to Daniel’s place to find a shovel. When the moon was high above us, we dug a hole close to the stream where she had passed and wrapped her in the blanket before burying her under a pile of dirt. We watched in silence the place where we had buried Daniel’s mother and slowly, left Daniel alone to mourn his mother in peace. Elizabeth, Jonas and I had gone back to Daniel’s place, I was surprised he had acceded to letting us come back alone but he was too hurt to care if he didn’t know us much.
