On Tuesday morning, Tessa King delivered her four-year-old daughter, Mia, to the Stirling Kindergarten, as she had each Tuesday since the start of the term. There was a huddle of mothers standing in the car park talking. Tessa walked Mia into the kindergarten and helped her hang her backpack on her assigned peg at the back of the classroom. ‘Have a good day, sweetheart.’ ‘Bye, Mum.’ Mia trotted over to join her classmates sitting cross-legged on the carpet square at the front of the room.
