Friday morning started with a briefing in the incident room. Pat sat at the back of the room alongside DC Lina Palumbo, who was scanning the room.
‘Who’s the bald guy that looks like he could lose a few kilos?’
‘That’s DCI Roberts. He’s the senior investigating officer.’
‘Know anything about him, Pat?’
‘I worked for him before I was transferred to Cold Cases.’
Before Lina could ask another question, a tall man, around Pat’s age, dressed in a tailored dark grey suit, strode to the front of the room and called the team to order.
‘That’s DI Ryan,’ said Pat. ‘He’s actually leading the investigation.’
Lina glanced at Pat and raised her eyebrows in that way which made him wish he was twenty years younger.
‘Listen up, people,’ said DI Ryan. ‘The Commissioner will be on ABC Radio Adelaide
