When Ethan woke up again, he was in the hospital.
He lifted his head slightly and saw Sophia sleeping soundly beside him.
Seeing her haggard face and disheveled hair, Ethan felt a pang of heartache. 'She hasn't rested well these past days, has she?'
Sophia opened her eyes slowly and noticed Ethan watching her. "You're awake? Why are you sitting up? Your injuries haven't healed yet, just lie down!"
Ethan felt warmth in his heart as he saw Sophia's concerned expression. "I'm fine, don't worry."
Sophia gave him a reproachful look. "You're hurt and still trying to be tough... Fortunately, the doctor said you only have some surface wounds. If you were disabled, I wouldn't take care of you for life!"
Ethan smiled and asked, "You're my wife. If you don't take care of me, who will?"
Sophia pouted slightly. "Wait a second, I'll go get the doctor..."
But as soon as Sophia turned to leave the room, she stepped back in immediately.
A few men barged in, led by a young man named Dalit Dennis, who had an arrogant expression. "You! Pack up and get out of this room right now!"
Ethan's eyes narrowed slightly. "What do you mean by that?"
Dalit stroked his chin and laughed arrogantly. "Haha... It means that I want this room! Get out now, or else I won't mind helping you out!"
He waved his hand, and a few of his underlings stepped forward with hostile looks.
Seeing this, Sophia's frail body stood in front of them, and she said firmly, "You can't do this! My husband was injured while rescuing people from a fire. He needs to rest and can't be moved!"
Dalit and his group burst into laughter, pointing at Ethan. "What? Rescuing people? Him? Don't make me laugh! Look at him, he barely has any muscle. He was probably the one being rescued!"
A trace of anger flashed across Sophia's face. "You... please leave and don't disturb my husband!"
Dalit sneered, "Leave? I won't leave, you should! Medical resources are tight, and you think you deserve this private room? My boss is still stuck in a shared room. What right do you, a poor nobody, have to stay here? Get out of the room now!"
Sophia didn't back down. "My husband is seriously injured and needs rest and treatment. Why should we give the room to you?"
Dalit said impatiently, "If he needs treatment, go to a regular ward. Look at yourself, do you really think you're some kind of hero?"
Dalit was very displeased because the explosion at Prosperity Mall had caused his boss to suffer minor injuries, and he was placed in a regular ward.
The hospital claimed there were no high-end private rooms left. If Dalit could secure a private room for his boss, wouldn't that show his capability?
Dalit said, "Enough with nonsense. To hog a private room, you're pretending to be a firefighting hero. How shameless!"
Sophia's face turned red with anger as she argued, "He risked his life to save a kid from the fire. He is a hero!"
Dalit sneered, "Tsk, tsk, this girl is pretty, but she's also a bit foolish! If he's a hero, then I'm God!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the door suddenly opened, and Jim's parents rushed in with their son. "Sir, I've finally found you! If it weren't for you saving Jim, he wouldn't have survived yesterday! Jim, thank this gentleman for saving your life!"
The smile on Dalit's face froze. 'He's really a hero? It can't be! He doesn't look like a hero at all!'
Dalit couldn't help but ask, "Hey, you must have the wrong person. How could he be a hero?"
Jim's father looked at Dalit with disapproval. "Who are you to spout nonsense here? Don't you think I know who saved my son?!"
Jim's father turned to Ethan, concerned. "Mr. Lee, you're a benefactor to our whole family. Sophia has been taking care of you and placed July at our house temporarily. The two kids are getting along great!"
At that moment, the door creaked open again, and a group of firefighters walked in.
The lead firefighter, full of respect, said, "Mr. Lee! We're here to thank you for your heroic actions during the Prosperity Mall fire accident. The city hall has instructed us to inform you that all your medical expenses during your treatment will be covered by the city hall!"
Dalit scratched his head awkwardly, unsure of what to do next.
Just then, Dalit heard his boss Alastor's voice, "Dalit? What are you doing here?"
Dalit, eager to please, said, "Boss, I'm trying to get you a private room. With your status, you shouldn't be sharing a room with others!"
Dalit glared at Ethan and said, "Brat! This is my boss, Alastor Mcclure. Hurry up and get out of here!"
Alastor kicked Dalit in the butt, causing him to fall to the ground.
He continued angrily, "Are you trying to get him to give up his room for me? Do you want me to die early?"
Then, Alastor smiled at Ethan nervously. "Master, how come you're in the hospital too?"
