Chapter 97

895 Words
With the trail at the Phil Prison severed, Ethan saw no reason to stay any longer. Ethan stood up and calmly said, "Aelric, handle my release procedures." Aelric replied respectfully. "Yes, sir!" After all, Ethan hadn't committed any crime, so there was no need for him to continue serving his sentence. Turning to Sunny, Ethan asked. "Sunny, what are your plans?" Sunny was taken aback. "Can I also leave?" Ethan smiled. "Believe me, disciples of Ethan are never criminals who take lives lightly!" At this point, Aelric chimed in with a smile. "Sunny, I can arrange for bail first so you can leave the prison. I'll examine your case again and clear your name. Though we've just met, I trust you." Sunny's face lit up with excitement. Framed and imprisoned, he had thought he'd spend the rest of his life in this bleak place. But he saw his master again and have a chance at freedom, which were beyond his expectation. Sunny said to Ethan, "Master, I have no fixed abode. If you don't mind, let me stay by your side." Ethan hesitated at first, but then thought about that Sophia and her daughter were only protected by one person, the Wolf Star, which wasn't safe enough. Among his disciples, Sunny's strength was exceptional. Keeping him around would be an added layer of security. Ethan nodded. "Alright, then you can follow me." *** From his incarceration to release, Ethan had spent only seven days. The first thing he wanted to do after leaving the prison was to see his loved ones—his wife and daughter. He sent Sunny ahead and embarked on the journey home alone. Passing by a bakery, Ethan remembered that July loved cakes. He wanted to buy some cake on the way back, but he found his phone was completely out of battery. Then he realized that it had been stored in the prison locker for seven days. Fortunately, feeling around in his pocket, Ethan found a bank card. Noticing a bank not far from the bakery, he decided to withdraw some cash before buying the cakes. The bank was busy today, with a long queue. Ethan wasn't in a hurry and queued up behind everyone else. In front of Ethan stood a beautiful lady with a tall and slender figure, graceful curves, and long black hair flowing behind her, exuding an elegant aura. Due to the crowd, someone behind accidentally pushed Ethan into the lady. Touched by Ethan, the lady turned around, fury etched on her face. Ethan apologized quickly. "I'm sorry!" The girl's voice was filled with surprise and annoyance. "It's you?! I never expected to encounter you again, you scoundrel!" Ethan looked up and saw a pretty girl, but her eyes blazed with hatred. Ethan was puzzled. It was just an accidental touch; why was she so angry? He apologized sincerely. "Miss, I accidentally touched you. I apologize." Her face contorted with anger. "Apologize? I'll beat you to death, you scoundrel!" Without warning, Jade's right foot lashed out like a whirlwind, aiming for his lower body. Surprised by her ferocity, Ethan's face also darkened with anger. He clamped his legs around her kicking leg and reached out to hook her shoulder bone, subduing her. From a distance, they looked like a pair of intimate lovers in close pose. Ethan's voice was icy, "I accidentally touched you, but you attack with such malice. Isn't that a bit excessive?" The girl's eyes blazed with fury, as if she wanted to devour him alive, "Excessive? I, Jade Eve, wish to kill you with my own hands, you scoundrel!" 'Jade Eve?' Ethan suddenly recalled the name and a trace of surprise flashed in his eyes. Could the world be so coincidental? 'd**k, you really have a lot of nerve. How dare you mess with such a fiery girl?' Ethan addressed Jade. "Miss Eve, have you mistaken me for someone else?" Jade replied angrily. "d**k, don't try to deceive me. Even if you've gained a little weight, I'd still recognize you anywhere!" Ethan sighed helplessly, thinking, 'Well, no wonder Grandma Lee chose him to be the scapegoat. It seems like I do resemble this never-met older cousin quite a bit.' "Miss Eve, please take a closer look," Ethan urged. "I'm not Dick." Jade finally came to her senses. Dick was a wealthy man who had squandered his health with wine and women, and she could easily overpower him with one hand. However, Ethan exuded a strength that d**k could never match. Upon closer inspection, Jade noticed that although there was some resemblance between Ethan's brows and d**k's, their facial features were distinctly different. Her voice tinged with uncertainty, she asked. "You aren't d**k?" Ethan smiled reassuringly. "I'm not Dick." Seeing Ethan's calm demeanor, Jade believed him. One's appearance could be disguised, but the innate aura that emanated from within was impossible to fake. Realizing her mistake, Jade blushed. Yet her stubborn nature prevented her from easily admitting her fault. She glared at Ethan again. "Even if you're not d**k, you're still a hooligan. Let me go now!" Ethan sighed heavily. If he released her, she would undoubtedly continue to attack him. Just as the two were at an impasse, a sudden gunshot shattered the tranquility of the bank. A brash voice boomed throughout the bank lobby. "Be still! Give me all your money!"
