Ethan saw Sophia with tears in her eyes. He held her gently and wiped away her tears. He said softly, "Don't worry dear. I have an idea."
July ran over and hugged Sophia, saying, "Mommy, don't worry. Daddy will fix it!"
Seeing her daughter, Sophia composed herself quickly and wiped her eyes. She held July and kissed her cheek, "Of course I believe in Daddy. He's the best!"
Ethan said to Sophia, "Tell me what's going on."
Sophia said softly, "Do you know the Cruz Group? They are one of the top three commercial groups in Crownspire. They have a huge project with profits in the billions!"
Sophia continued, "The Cruz Group is looking for a partner for this project. All the major groups in Crownspire are after it!"
Sophia sighed, "Rising Group values this cooperation highly. After discussions, the Deputy Director and I would compete. Whoever secures the cooperation will be the Business Director. The loser leaves immediately!"
Ethan nodded. The competition between business directors was actually that between the deputy general managers!
'Whoever got the order would control the Business Department, giving their Deputy General Manager an edge in becoming the General Manager. The workplace was indeed a battlefield!'
Ethan asked, "Sophia, do you really lack confidence in yourself?"
Sophia shook her head helplessly, "If it were a fair competition, even if I lost, I would have no complaints. But the person in charge at the Cruz Group is Dilanne's boyfriend! This competition has been unfair from the start!"
Ethan frowned, a cold smile forming on his lips. 'If it were a fair competition, the winner makes the rule. I wouldn't interfere with my force. But since it wasn't fair from the start, well, everyone has connections!'
Other forces might require effort, but the Cruz Group was different. Ethan smiled slightly. What a coincidence! He knew people at the Cruz Group very well!
Ethan smiled and said, "Sophia, wait for me. I'll make a call."
Ethan stepped out and dialed a long-forgotten number.
On the other end, a weary yet authoritative voice answered, "Hello?"
Ethan smiled and asked, "Ulmer, how have you been?"
Ulmer Cruz responded excitedly, "Master? Is it you?"
Ethan nodded, "It's been five years. I didn't expect you to still remember my voice!"
Ulmer's voice filled with excitement, responded, "Not just five years, I'd remember your voice for a lifetime! If it weren't for your guidance back then, I would have gone bankrupt and jumped off a building. There would be no glory today!"
Ulmer asked, "Master, is there something you need? If there's anything I can do to help, just say it. I'd do it without hesitation, even if it cost me everything!"
A faint glint flashed in Ethan's eyes, "There's a matter I need your help with..."
Five minutes later, Ethan returned to the house and said, "Sophia, don't worry. I know someone at the Cruz Group, and I've made arrangements. Go sign the contract tomorrow morning!"
Sophia looked at him in surprise, "Are you serious? You're not just trying to cheer me up, are you?"
Ethan chuckled, "When have I ever lied to you? Tomorrow I'll go with you!"

The next morning, after bring July to school, Ethan took Sophia to the Cruz Group headquarters.
Meanwhile, at Rising Group's Business Department, Dilanne was monitoring Sophia's movements closely.
When Dilanne first learned about Sophia's schedule, she laughed disdainfully, "Haha... this is hilarious! You know what? Sophia went to the Cruz Group headquarters! And she brought a man with her. That man must be her bookish husband you were talking about!"
Her colleagues laughed along with her, "What? Sophia went there? Does she think she can secure that project?"
"It seems Sophia got lucky with one contract and now thinks she's a big shot! Haha..."
"Doesn't she know that the person in charge of this project at the Cruz Group is Dilanne's boyfriend? Are they going there to humiliate themselves?"
Everyone laughed loudly, their eyes filled with scornful ridicule. The women in the Business Department felt a natural jealousy towards Sophia who had less fortunate family but surpassed them in looks and ability.
Their eyes were filled with merciless mockery.
Dilanne smirked, "Looks like we'll have the result soon. This time, I'll make Mr. Cyrus accept the reality. How can a mere pauper compete for the Director's position with me? This time, I'll make that b***h Sophia leave Rising Group!"
