Chapter 91

1148 Words
In the Nickson family's living room, two formidable figures engaged in a fierce battle, each attacking with full force. Though they wielded no swords or firearms, their fists were equally deadly. In the heat of the battle, Cole seized a wrist of a Duncan family bodyguard and delivered a brutal knee strike to his chest. The bodyguard's face flushed red-purple as he staggered back several steps. The bodyguard knew that Cole had shown mercy, or his ribs would have been shattered completely, so he grimly admitted defeat. "I surrender." The bodyguard said awkwardly. Eamon's face turned panicked. Sweat dripped down his forehead as he pleaded, "Stop. Let's talk things out. If you dare treat me like this, my family will never let you off!" Ethan snorted disdainfully. "It seems Mr. Duncan is starting to talk nonsense out of hunger. Cole, make him swallow the oil painting!" Cole grabbed Eamon's chin and shoved the painting into his mouth, forcibly pushing the shattered pieces down his throat for over ten minutes until the entire painting disappeared without a trace. After releasing Eamon, who hit on the ground coughing violently, Ethan chuckled: "Mr. Duncan, how's the taste?" Eamon's eyes were bloodshot. "As long as I, Eamon Duncan, draw breath, even if it means mobilizing the entire Duncan family, I will make sure you suffer!" Hearing his words, Ethan remembered something and smiled strangely. "The Duncan family? The former officer Lauren Duncan from the Greenhill City, he belongs to your family, right?" Eamon froze. Indeed, Lauren Duncan was part of the Duncan family, but he had offended someone powerful and was subsequently killed. Despite the Duncan family's anger, they could only accept their misfortune. Eamon asked in confusion. "What does his death have to do with you?" Ethan smiled. "Heh... I was the one who killed him. Forgot to introduce myself. I'm Ethan Lee." Eamon felt like he was struck by lightning. Suddenly, everything made sense. No wander Ethan dared to intervene though knowing his identity! Trembling, Eamon apologized, "So it was Mr. Lee. I was wrong earlier. I apologize." Ethan frowned. "The extortion against the Nickson family. Is an apology enough?" Eamon hastily replied, "I'm willing to compensate. I'll donate 30 million sponsorship funds. Please forgive my recklessness, Mr. Nickson!" Ethan nodded. "Very well, you may leave." Eamon sighed with relief and left in embarrassment. Aiden, recovering from his shock, bowed gratefully to Ethan. "Thank you, Mr. Lee, for your assistance in saving my family from peril. I'm deeply grateful!" Ethan helped Aiden up and spoke. "Mr. Nickson, I came here this time to buy medicine." Aiden nodded. "Mr. Lee. Whatever my family possesses, I will not hesitate to give." Ethan whispered, "Mr. Nickson, my daughter has been poisoned and needs Sky Beetle Spark to detoxify. I am willing to pay at any price. Please sell me the Sky Beetle Spark." Aiden hesitated for a moment, then made a firm decision. "The Sky Beetle Spark was obtained by chance over ten years ago. Mr. Lee, since you saved my family from danger, I will not hesitate. Servants!" Aiden ordered loudly for the Sky Beetle Spark to be brought. After a while, a servant brought out a delicately sealed box. Aiden carefully opened it, revealing a dried red flower lying peacefully inside. Ethan breathed a sigh of relief. His daughter finally had hope! 'My daughter can be saved!' Ethan sincerely thanked Aiden. "Thank you, Mr. Nickson. I owe you a favor. In the future, if the Nickson family encounters any difficulties, please do not hesitate to ask. Though I may lack influence, I will ensure the safety of the Nickson family." *** After obtaining the Sky Beetle Spark, Ethan hurried back to the imperial capital and handed it over to the old witch doctor, Elder Shaw. Elder Shaw combined the Sky Beetle Spark with Angel's Blood and several detoxifying herbs, ground them into powder, and administered them to July. Though Ethan was skilled in medicine, he deeply respected Elder Shaw's expertise in herbal medicine. Ethan waited anxiously outside the sickroom. After a long while, a familiar voice made Ethan tremble. "Daddy!" July's tiny figure flung out of the hospital room, and Ethan instinctively caught the delicate silhouette. July's sparkling eyes were full of excitement, and her little head rubbed against Ethan's chest repeatedly, Her soft tone carried a deep longing. "Daddy, I missed you so much!" Ethan let out a deep sigh of relief, feeling the weight of a thousand pounds lifted instantly. A trace of exhaustion appeared on Ethan's face as he hugged his daughter tightly. "July, daddy missed you too!" Feeling the warmth in his arms, Ethan realized just how important this fragile life was to him. After embracing July for a while, Ethan raised his gaze and looked at the graceful figure of Sophia not far away. A hint of apology flashed in his eyes. Holding his daughter's hand, Ethan slowly walked towards Sophia, a contrite expression on his face. "Sophia, I'm sorry, I..." Suddenly, Sophia embraced Ethan, her eyes instantly reddening! Through tears, Sophia said, "Don't apologize. When July was unconscious and you were away, I realized how important you both are to me. Ethan, I have no other family left. You and July are my only family members. I'm so scared. Without you, I don't know how to go on living!" Despite her strength, Sophia was still a woman who needed love, care, and protection. Ethan hugged Sophia back. "Sophia, I'm truly sorry. I promise, this is the last time. I'll never let you and our daughter suffer the any harm again!" Sophia's eyes were slightly red, but they shone with deep affection. "Ethan, I believe you. As long as we're together as a family, I'm content." A smile curved Ethan's lip. After this incident, the bond between them as a family had clearly deepened. With one arm around July and the other hand reaching out to hold Sophia's, Ethan said with a smile, "To celebrate our family being together again, let me treat you to a big meal, okay?" Little July's face lit up with a greedy expression. "Yay! I want to eat Peking roast duck!" Ethan chuckled and nodded. "Alright, let's have roast duck!" They didn't hesitate and headed straight to the roast duck restaurant in Chinatown. As Ethan carried July into the restaurant, he suddenly realized that the vast space was empty except for the three of them. Faced with this sudden scene, Sophia instinctively leaned closer to Ethan. Ethan stared coldly around, only to see a group of men in black suits suddenly flooding in, surrounding the entire restaurant. Then, the crowd parted, and an elderly man in a black tuxedo with graying hair walked in slowly. The old man performed a standard bow towards Ethan, his body slightly bent in deep respect. "Young Master, I've been sent to escort you home."
