A big investment event was happening at the International Conference Center in Greenhill City.
The event was huge, with all the notable companies in and outside Greenhill City attending.
When Ethan arrived at the center, a crowd was already at the entrance. Sophia quickly spotted that Charles was arguing intensely with a security guard.
Sophia ran over. "Dad! Are you okay?!"
Seeing Charles' bruised face, Sophia quickly took out a handkerchief to wipe the blood from his mouth.
Ethan also approached him with concern. "Dad, what happened?"
Charles, looking ashamed, said, "Ethan, it's all my fault. If I had any other choice, I wouldn't have called you. I've been in business for decades and have never been so humiliated!"
A man wearing a security captain badge sneered, "Humiliated? Why did you mess with someone you shouldn't? Old man, leave quickly, or it will only be more embarrassing!"
Ethan's gaze turned cold. "You are just a security guard. Whether we are embarrassed or not isn't for you to comment on."
Anger flashed in the security captain's eyes. "Hmph! You're arrogant, young man. But I'm in charge here. If I let you in, you can go in. If I don't, the only thing you can do is to leave!"
Swish!
Ethan suddenly grabbed the security captain by the collar. "Tell me who gave a mere security guard like you such audacity."
The security captain shouted, "What are you doing?! Let me go! This event is hosted by Greenhill City Hall. If you dare to touch me, you're challenging the City Hall's authority!"
Hearing this, Charles, who was furious, felt scared. 'City Hall represents the federal government in Greenhill City. I'm just a small businessman. I can't possibly fight City Hall!' Thinking this, Charles sighed. "Ethan, let's just leave."
The security captain looked at them with a mocking smile. "Hmph! At least you know when to back off! Just leave quietly. You're a disgrace to the business world!"
At that moment, Ethan's cold voice broke the silence, "A mere security guard with such arrogance! You don't even know the truth, yet you're using the small power Andrew White gave you to drive people away. You're just a mad dog!"
The security captain was enraged. "How dare you insult the mayor?!"
Ethan coldly replied, "First, I'm insulting you! Second, even if I insulted Andrew, he'd still have to stand here and listen!"
The security captain burst out laughing. "Haha, you're such a braggart!" He waved his hand, and his subordinates surrounded Ethan. "Insulting the mayor alone is enough reason for us to arrest you!"
Ethan said, "Hmph! You're not the police. Who gave you the right to arrest people?"
The security captain arrogantly replied, "We are City Hall security. Of course, we have that right!"
Ethan laughed, "Why don't you ask Andrew if he dares to arrest Ethan Lee?"
The security captain laughed loudly. "Do you really think you're somebody important? Fine! Don't say I didn't give you a chance!"
The security captain took out his walkie-talkie and said, "Secretary Von, there's a guy at the entrance claiming to be Ethan Lee. He's insulting the mayor and says our mayor wouldn't dare to do anything to him! I request permission to arrest and take him to the police station!"
From the walkie-talkie came Secretary Von's trembling voice, "W-who? Ethan Lee?"
The security captain nodded, "Yes! This guy is very arrogant; he’s clearly here to cause trouble. Should we hold him criminally responsible?"
There was silence on the other end of the walkie-talkie.
The security captain sneered deeply, "See? Our mayor doesn't even wanna say one more word with a scoundrel like you! Listen! Arrest him!"
Just as the security guards were about to pounce, Andrew's angry voice rang out, "Stop right there!" Andrew, along with a group of suited men, ran over with visible anxiety on his face.
The security captain quickly smiled obsequiously. "Mayor White, why are you here? You can leave this to me..."
Andrew didn't even look at the security captain. He checked Ethan up and down. His voice showed a bit of fearful surprise. "M-Mr. Lee, are you alright?"
The security captain's face turned pale, and he stammered, "M-Mayor White, why are you being so polite to a troublemaker? C-could it be a mistake?"
Andrew's face darkened as he glared at him. "A troublemaker?! If he's a troublemaker, my position as Mayor is worth less than a beggar!"
Even though he didn't know Ethan, after that grand wedding, many high-ranking people visited City Hall because of Ethan. How could someone like Ethan be offended by a mere mayor like him?
Andrew's words were the final blow to the security captain's last hope! The security captain cried and apologized, "Mr. Lee, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I didn't recognize you. Please, think of me as just a dog, and forgive me this time!"
The security captain was trembling. He was extremely scared. 'Even the mayor respects Ethan so much. How could a mere security guard like me offend him?'
The security captain cried, "It was Mr. Peterson who told me to drive Mr. Harris away!"
Sophia asked in surprise, "Who is Mr. Peterson?"
Charles said heavily, "The eldest son of Governor Peterson, Eason Peterson! At the investment fair, I was about to sign a contract with a company, but Eason suddenly showed up and tried to take it by force!"
Charles said helplessly, "Just as I was about to argue with them, Eason's men beat me out of the venue. He also told the venue's security to keep me out and not let me back in!"
Ethan sneered, "Heh! Just a governor's son? How dare he act all high and mighty!"
Seeing things go south, Andrew yelled at the security captain, "You bloody guard, get out of here now! You're fired! No pay! Just go!"
After the security captain left, Andrew said, "Mr. Lee, Eason's father is the Governor of Constant State, and his mother is from a prominent family in Crownspire. Maybe we should..."
What his meaning was clear: Eason was not easy to deal with.
Ethan's lips curled slightly, showing an air of arrogance. "In this world, no one can bully my family yet get away with it! Eason doesn't have that right!"
Ethan turned to Charles, "Dad, take me to Eason. Since you couldn't reason with him, I'll do it myself!"
Watching Ethan leave, Andrew looked panicked. "Oh no, a storm is coming!"
