Everyone present watched in deafening silence, shocked.
Only Ethan remained calm. He wasn't the type to endure provocation without fighting back. He could be reasonable, but when others were unreasonable, Ethan was equally unafraid. His patience had its limits. Since someone was being stubborn, he would definitely receive a bloody lesson!
Cart touched the wound on his head and looked at Ethan in disbelief. "Y-you hit me?"
Ethan smiled faintly. "So what?" His voice was soft but carried an air of dominance as if Cart was nothing but a clown.
Overcome with rage, Cart shouted, "I'll kill you, you b*stard!" He grabbed a bottle and swung it at Ethan.
Ethan's gaze turned icy, and he swiftly kicked out!
Bang!
Cart, weighing over 180 pounds, was kicked over 20 feet away by Ethan, slamming heavily into the wall and passing out instantly!
This scene left everyone dumbfounded! Their gazes at Ethan were filled with astonishment and deep fear. 'Cart is over 180 pounds! But Ethan kicked him over 20 feet away. The strength is terrifying!'
Suddenly, Eason's cold voice rang out. "Ethan, Cart is my man."
Ethan raised an eyebrow and said to Eason, "I know. So what?"
Eason gave him a sinister smile. "Dude, you're really interesting. But I'm starting to dislike you more and more!"
Ethan sneered. "What, are you unhappy? If you can hit people, why can't I? This world doesn't revolve around you, Eason!"
Eason spoke with supreme arrogance. "That's right. I can't control everything, but I am the supreme ruler in this small Greenhill City!"
Eason's gaze turned cold as he looked at Ethan and the others with contempt, saying arrogantly, "I don't know where you got the courage to oppose me, but you'll soon find out that your abilities and bravery are nothing compared to me!"
With that, Eason slowly scanned the crowd, speaking coldly, "I don't like the Harris family's business. Everyone, you know what to do, right?"
The crowd present weren't fools. Suddenly, countless eyes turned to Charles, showing pity, regret, and mostly, schadenfreude.
After a few seconds of silence, a man in his forties gritted his teeth, walked up to Charles, and spoke apologetically, "Mr. Harris, I'm sorry, but I can't afford to offend Mr. Peterson. Our previous contract is terminated, and I'll transfer the penalty fee to your company's account."
Charles's face changed when he heard this. "Mr. Ford! We've been partners for over thirty years! I've already prepared the entire production line for this project. If you terminate the contract now, my millions in investments will go down the drain!"
Mr. Ford looked apologetic. He apologized again before stepping back. Following his lead, all the suppliers and partners of the Harris family business quickly distanced themselves, leaving the once-prosperous Harris family with nothing in an instant.
Charles's face turned pale, and his body started trembling. In a moment, a lifetime of hard work was lost.
Sophia asked worriedly, "Dad, are you okay?" Seeing her father suddenly look ten years older, Sophia felt heartbroken and went up to support him.
Eason's voice rang out again, filled with greed as he looked at her. "Miss Harris, are you really willing to see your father's lifetime of hard work go to waste?"
Sophia bit her lip and asked, "W-what do you mean?"
Eason said proudly, "It's very simple! As long as you're willing to do one thing, all the Harris family's losses will be restored. And I can even give the Harris family immense wealth, ensuring they become the richest family in Greenhill City within three years!"
Eason's mouth curled into a sinister smile. "And it's very simple. All you have to do is to spend one night with me!"
Eason's intention was clear: to destroy Ethan's dignity. Since Ethan had hit Eason's man, Eason would publicly humiliate Ethan's woman and trample on Ethan's honor!
Sophia's eyes flashed with shame and anger. Just as she was about to speak, her father grabbed her hand. "No, Sophia! Don't agree to this!"
Charles's eyes were filled with firm, loving determination despite his weary appearance. "Sophia, I used to think that power and influence were important. Even I did many things that hurt you. But now, I've realized that you're my only daughter. What good is having immense power if I can't even protect you?"
Charles then placed Ethan's hand over Sophia's, looking deeply gratified. "As long as the two of you can live happily together and little July can grow up joyfully, what does it matter if I have nothing?"
Charles spoke with contentment. "This past month has been the happiest time of my life. It's now that I've realized that the greatest joy in life isn't having power but being able to live happily with one's family. Let's go! We won't fight anymore!"
Seeing the relieved smile on Charles's face, Ethan and Sophia exchanged glances and smiles, too. 'Indeed, what does wealth matter? The love and simplicity of family life are the true pursuit of happiness!'
Seeing this family, Eason clenched his fists tightly. His face filled with gloom. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Eason had always gotten whatever he wanted, but he had never experienced the warmth of a family.
This worthless pauper, Ethan, had a loving and beautiful wife and a family willing to give up everything for him. All this ignited a burning jealousy in Eason's heart.
Eason's cold voice echoed through the hall. "Did I say you could leave?!"
