Chapter 22

Sophia blushed deeply at Ethan's words, unable to lift her head. Suddenly, July ran in from outside, looking pitiable. "Daddy, I'm still hungry. I want more yummy food!" Ethan saw his daughter enter the room and couldn't help but smile wryly. Sophia laughed when she saw Ethan being interrupted. Then she picked up July and said, "How about Daddy take us to eat something yummy?" July waved her little hands excitedly. "Yeah, yeah, let's go eat yummy food!" The family went to a simple restaurant in the city and ordered July's favorite fried chicken, along with some fish fillets and burgers. Although it was just an ordinary meal, they felt a special warmth. Ethan, who had always been lonely, and Sophia and July, who had suffered so much, all felt the happiness of a home. After the pleasant dinner, they returned home. July had fallen asleep in Sophia's arms on the way back. Sophia laid her down on the bed and looked at Ethan, who was still in the room, her cheeks suddenly flushed. As a married couple, they should sleep together. However, Sophia, being a traditional girl, wasn't ready to accept Ethan to that extent yet. Seeing her shy demeanor, Ethan immediately understood her thoughts and laughed. "I'll sleep in the guest room for now! Sophia, you stay here and take care of July. If you need anything, just call me." Hearing Ethan's considerate words, Sophia looked at him gratefully. "Thank you, Ethan!" Ethan's eyes were full of deep affection. "Sweetheart, from now on, we're a family! I'll give you time and wait until you're ready to fully accept me." That night, Sophia slept soundly. For years, she had faced scorn, unmarried and pregnant, driven out with her daughter. At that moment, with her father, husband, and daughter who loved her, it felt like all her past sufferings were worth it. The night passed quietly. The next morning, as Sophia walked out of the room, Ethan's gentle voice called out, "Awake? Freshen up and get ready for breakfast!" Sophia looked up to see the table already set with a rich breakfast; July was happily eating. Sophia looked at Ethan incredulously. "Did you make all this?" Ethan smiled and nodded. "Just something simple. I hope you like it." With a beaming smile, July said, "Mommy, come eat! Daddy's food is delicious!" Little July was happily praising Ethan. After freshening up, Sophia ate breakfast, occasionally glancing at Ethan across the table. Ethan teased, "What? Do I have something on my face?" Sophia blushed, biting her lip gently. "No... Nothing. Ethan, I was just wondering that were those people at the wedding really your students?" Ethan chuckled. "Sort of... Their success required their own talent and effort. I just guided them when they were lost and inspired them when they were stuck. So, they've all been taught by me in some way. For the wedding, I asked them to help out to give you a grand ceremony." Hearing this, Sophia looked at Ethan with a bit of heartache. 'For such a grand wedding, Ethan must have put in a lot of effort to get these successful people to come…' Sophia asked softly, "They are all high-profile figures. Yesterday, they showed us great respect. Even if we can't help them, we must remember this kindness. I just don't know how we can repay them." Ethan smiled and said, "Alright, whatever you say." After breakfast, Ethan handed Sophia a black card. She asked with confusion, "What is this?" Ethan smiled. "This is my savings over the years. Now that we're married,I'll hand it over to you to manage and use for sure." Sophia's face flushed crimson, lending her an endearing charm. She said nervously, "That's not necessary. We can each manage our own..." Before she could finish, Ethan interrupted, "Every family has its own way. But this is my way of showing I trust you. You deserve the best." Hearing Ethan's words, Sophia was so moved she almost cried. She carefully put the card in her bag and said, "Then I'll keep this card for you." Ethan smiled warmly. "Alright, you can decide everything." Sophia decided to go shopping. "Alright then, take care of July at home. I'll go to the supermarket for some ingredients and make a feast today!" Leaving the house, Sophia checked her wallet and found only a few dollars left. So, she went to a nearby bank. As she sat down, the teller, Donnie, yawned and impatiently asked, "What do you need?" Sophia replied, "I need to withdraw money." Donnie was taken aback, looking somewhat displeased, "Don't you know you can use the ATM?" Feeling embarrassed, Sophia explained that her card only had a few dollars left, and she needed to withdraw the exact amount, which ATM couldn't do. Seeing her embarrassment, the teller looked at her disdainfully. 'This woman looks decent, but she's just a poor nobody!' Donnie coldly asked, "How much do you want to withdraw?" Feeling nervous, Sophia randomly pulled out the black card Ethan gave her and said, "All... all of it." Donnie initially took the card dismissively, but when he saw the five gold flowers on the black card, his eyes widened and he almost dropped it. Donnie exclaimed, "What... what did you say?! All... all of it?!"
