Elder looked up and gazed deeply at Ethan.
Ethan had been there for over two hours while Elder treated patients. He sat quietly, not uttering a word.
Elder noticed him but prioritized his patients, so they didn't speak.
The old healer saw Ethan was healthy but worried, indicating a family illness.
Despite his anxiety, Ethan waited patiently, impressing Elder with his composure.
Only when Elder mentioned the noise did Ethan stand.
After listening to Ethan, Elder chuckled, "Thanks. I'm old and can't stand noise; a mistake during surgery could be disastrous!"
Ethan smiled, "Your dedication is admirable, sir! I'll be right back."
As Ethan was about to leave, Emily spoke up, "Can I go with him?"
Elder nodded, "Go ahead."
Ethan left the clinic, with his bodyguard, Cole Steel, following silently.
Cole's imposing figure and visible handgun surprised Emily.
Her eyes kept glancing at Ethan.
"Do I have something on my face?" he asked.
She quickly averted her gaze and then asked, "Sir, are you here for my grandfather's treatment too?"
Ethan nodded.
"Why didn't you speak to him then?" she asked, puzzled.
"The villagers were here first; I must follow the rules," he replied calmly.
"Don't worry," she smiled. "My grandfather's skills are excellent. Whatever the problem, he'll cure it!"
Ethan smiled at the young woman, "Yes, I believe Mr. Shaw will handle everything well."
As they turned a corner, the roar of an excavator filled the air.
"These damn developers are here again! So annoying!" Emily frowned.
"What's going on?" Ethan asked.
"They're trying to take Murph's Village land with a little compensation. It's robbery! The villagers are upset, but the developers keep harassing us," she explained.
Ethan's gaze darkened slightly.
When the villagers saw Emily, they shouted, "Emily, go back! It's too dangerous out here!"
"Yeah Emily, these developers want to flatten our village. You should take Dr. Shaw and get far away!"
"I'm not leaving!" she exclaimed. "What right do they have to do this? Not while I'm here!"
She stepped forward, "Who's in charge here? Come out!"
Hunter was about to start cursing when he spotted a pretty girl.
He jumped off the excavator, eyeing her, "Who's this pretty girl?"
Emily glared, "You're in charge? Who gave you the right to block the road and flatten the village? Forced demolition is illegal!"
Hunter laughed, "Illegal? I can demolish a village whenever I want. Here, I am the law!"
"You... I'll sue you!" Her face turned red with anger.
Hunter licked his lips, "Go ahead! Add s****l harassment to the charges while you're at it! Ha!"
As he reached out to touch her cheek, Emily paled with fear.
Just as his hand was about to touch her, Ethan's arm blocked him.
"Who are you? Mind your own business, scram if you don't want to die!" Hunter snapped.
"Stop all machines and leave, and I'll forget this happened," Ethan said coolly.
"f**k! Who are you to threaten me? You're dead!" Hunter cursed, throwing a punch at Ethan's head.
Ethan delivered a swift kick, sending his hefty body flying.
With a loud bang, Hunter's back slammed against the excavator.
Hunter's men rushed to help him up. As he spat blood, he yelled, "Dare to hit me? Get on the machines, flatten the village, and push everything out of the way!"
The excavators roared to life. The villagers' faces turned pale, trembling.
But they couldn't retreat; their homes were behind them. If they retreated, their homes would be gone.
Hunter climbed onto a bulldozer, glaring at Ethan, "Punk, last chance! Move now or be crushed!"
Ethan's mouth curled up slightly, "Oh really? Take a look at this..."
Hunter turned disdainfully, "Whatever it is, it's trash to me..."
His words cut off as he saw what was behind him—his eyes widened, speechless.
A battle tank roared out from the bushes.
Unlike the cumbersome bulldozers, the tank moved at 40 to 50 miles per hour.
The tank swiftly moved past the bulldozer, stopping at the village entrance, its cannon aimed at Hunter.
Dozens of camouflaged soldiers appeared, standing up from the bushes.
Military vehicles and armored cars gathered; machine guns ready to fire.
Hunter and his men were paralyzed with shock and terror.
