Sophia's face turned awkward, looking at Grace in disbelief. "Grace, what are you talking about? We were good friends sharing a dormitory!"
Grace's voice became sharp. "Ha ha! Don't flatter yourself. I'm a graduate from the top university, the youngest senior manager at Angel Group! And you? You're nothing but a disgrace—a woman who got pregnant before marriage and engaged in promiscuous behavior, leading to your expulsion from the academy!"
Grace's eyes were filled with intense jealousy and deep mockery. "Who would have thought that an excellent student would get pregnant during an internship? Sophia, how many men have f*ucked you b***h? How do you still have the nerve to be here?"
Seeing Sophia's pale face, Grace felt a certain indescribable satisfaction. She reached out, lifting Sophia's chin with a mocking smirk on her face. "Sophia, weren't you always better than me in school? Now look at you, a loser begging for a job from me."
Grace continued to mock. "And I, who used to be the ugly duckling by your side, am now in charge of your fate. Did you ever think this day would come?"
Grace looked down at Sophia, venting all the jealousy accumulated over five years. She had envied Sophia so much that her words were venomous at this time. "I don't want to see you here anymore. Get out!"
Sophia's face flushed with anger, and she clenched her fists. "Who gives you the right?! I was formally invited by Angel Group for this executive position. You have no authority to make me leave!"
Grace sneered, "What abilities do you have, being an expelled student? Since you want to embarrass yourself, I'll give you that chance. Bring out Sophia Harris's test paper!"
At Grace's command, the other examiners quickly retrieved Sophia's test paper. After reviewing it, one man approached Grace with a troubled expression. "Director, here it is."
Grace smiled triumphantly. "Oh? Read it out loud so everyone can see how far the once top student has fallen!"
The man stepped closer and whispered, "Director... her test score is... perfect."
Grace was shocked. "What? Perfect? Impossible!"
She grabbed the test paper, checking it with disbelief. 'This test was designed by the former director to select the best management talent. I barely passed it, and Sophia should score perfectly after a five-year hiatus? No way! This can't be true!'
Seeing Grace's grim expression, Sophia smiled confidently. "Manager Kline! Is my score hard to judge?"
Grace gripped the paper tightly, her gaze turning cold. "Sophia! I thought you just had promiscuous behavior, but it turns out you have no morals either!"
Grace held up the paper. "You cheated on the Angel Group's written exam!"
The room erupted in whispers.
"Such a pretty girl cheating? Unbelievable!"
“Who knows!”
"You never know, especially for a job with a starting salary of 5 million. Cheating isn't far-fetched."
Sophia's eyes reddened with frustration and tears.
She could admit defeat, but being accused of cheating was an insult to her integrity. With a trembling voice, she asked, "Do you have any evidence?"
Grace smirked and scanned the room. "Evidence? You think your cheating was flawless, that no one saw it?"
After a moment of silence, a woman near Sophia stood up. “Manager Kline, I saw her cheat!"
Sophia stared at the woman in disbelief. "Why are you lying? Why are you framing me?"
The woman looked away but insisted, "I'm not lying! I swear I saw you cheat!"
Then a man stood up. "I saw it too! She cheated right in front of me!"
One by one, four or five people claimed they saw Sophia cheat, swaying the room's opinion.
"I can't believe she actually cheated!"
"Thank goodness the manager caught her. Imagine if she got into the company!"
"Get out! A person of such low character doesn't belong here!"
Someone shouted "Get out," and soon the entire room was chanting for Sophia to leave.
Sophia, pale and tearful, looked at the other four examiners with a last glimmer of hope. "What about you? You were invigilating. Didn't you see if I cheated or not?"
The four examiners averted their gazes, remaining silent.
Grace shoved Sophia hard, causing her to fall. "Sophia, I told you to get out, didn't you hear me?"
With a condescending bend, Grace towered over her, her gaze dripping with contempt. "Sophia, you're now nothing but an arrant disgrace. You think you are qualified to vie against me?"
Sophia cried in pain, filled with helplessness and anger. Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice. "Mommy!"
She turned to see Ethan standing at the door, holding July in one arm and a lunchbox in the other, his face dark with anger.
July wriggled out of Ethan's hold, ran through the crowd, and started hitting Grace with her small fists. "Why are you bullying my mom? You're a bad person!"
With an impatient kick, Grace shoved July away, her face contorted in mockery. "Is this your daughter? Hmph, what a pretty face! But you better teach her well, or she might end up like you, sneaking around with men and getting disgraced! Ha!"
Ethan's voice was cold. "Shut up!" Though not loud, his words were chilling.
