Chapter 27
The three days Devante stayed at Michael’s place flew by. Between cooking meals, going for long walks around Devante’s public library shift and Michael’s practices, and the number of times Charlie knocked on their door “just to say hi,” Devante barely had time to be nervous about how close his first day at his new job was.
But then it was Tuesday night, the night they had agreed that Devante would go home, and the only thing keeping his nerves at bay was the way Michael was kissing him goodbye.
“You’re sure you don’t need me to stay another night?” Devante asked in between kisses.
