Michael’s dinner party was finally scheduled, after much back and forth, to replace their Saturday night drinks a week after he returned home from Tokyo. Enchiladas were on the menu: Michael’s mother’s recipe, to be served with red wine and saffron rice.
Devante forced himself to sleep in the day of the big event, rolling over the first two times he woke up and burying his face in his pillow until he fell asleep again. Finally, he rose, accepted an omelet from his father, and washed the dishes, before returning upstairs to try and focus on his job hunt until no earlier than three P.M.
