ELAINE
A long groan escaped my mouth as I slumped on my bed. I have never been this bored in a very long time. By this time, few days back, Lisa and I would be heading to Mom's restaurant and she would be throwing me chats about things that were totally not our business.
Sigh...I could have given her a call and told her to come over but she was human and sadly, the existence of werewolves was a mystery to her, just like every other humans out there.
I had informed Mom once before that I wished to reveal the truth about who we are to Lisa but she had rebuked it. She claimed it would be dangerous to and I never pressed the matter further after that.
As I rolled around atop my bed, I wondered what interesting things I could engage in in this pack. Being in one was still foreign to me since Mom and I have been without a pack since the death of my father.
Hold on.
I was the daughter of an Alpha now right? I might not be Alpha Nathan's biological daughter but I was still his daughter. I should know all the members of this pack, not just because I wanted to meet new people but also because it was expected of me.
Jeremy. As much as I hated to admit, he was the only one right now that could introduce me to the pack members and show me around.
I went out of my room and was about to head over to his room when I heard some voices downstairs. I looked down and saw Jeremy in the living room. Good thing he wasn’t bare-chested anymore.
My gaze went to the armchair opposite him and I saw someone else sitting there. My blood rushed with excitement.
Finally, someone new.
I didn’t hesitate to head downstairs to join them.
“Oh, good of you join us,” Jeremy said as I walked into the living room.
I rolled my eyes at him. As if I was there for him.
I caught a slight smile on his lips just before he faced the guy he was talking with. “Josh, meet my new stepsister…umm, what’s your name again?”
I gave him a mock smile, “I’m Elaine, nice to meet you,” I said to the guy and gave him my hand for an handshake.
“Duncan.’ He replied as he shook my hand.
“He’s the future Beta of this pack, just I am the next Alpha.” Jeremy informed. I took my seat on another couch.
I smiled at brown haired Duncan who had a solemn expression on.
“Everyone has been talking about you, Elaine. Wondering when Jeremy is going introduce you.”
I felt flattered. “Oh, they have? Well, I was just about to ask Jeremy about the same thing.” I said and we both turned to Jeremy.
He smiled widely before nodding, “Okay, how about we throw a party tonight? Just for Elaine. There everyone will get the chance to meet her.” Jeremy siggested.
I nodded, “That’s a great idea, we should do that.” I agreed. Seemed he wasn’t entirely a crackhead after all.
“I’ll send word out to everyone. Should it just be the young folks or the old ones can join in too?” Duncan asked.
“So we would end up watching the news, not a chance. Strictly a party for the youths, Duncan.” Jeremy said.
“Should I tell everyone that you’re back? Must don’t know yet.” asked Duncan.
Jeremy shook his head slowly. “They’ll meet me tonight.” he stated.
“Alright. It’s a pleasure to meet you once again, Eaine. Welcome to Night Walker pack.” Duncan said as he stood up.
“Thank you,” I replied before he left the house.
Silence reigned for a while in the living room as neither me nor Jeremy spoke a word after Duncan left.
I opened my mouth to speak, but Jeremy beat me to It.
“What are you going to eat for breakfast?” he asked.
I sat back and folded my arms over my chest. “What am I? Your maid?” I asked with a scoff.
He stood up slowly. “No, but you’ll also have to eat, right? Guess I’ll have to prepare my food alone then.” He said as he made his way out of the living room.
What did he mean by that?
Upon realization, I sprang to my feet and rushed after him. “Wait! ' Let’s talk about what we can both eat!’’ I yelled after him but he had already entered the kitchen. How fast does he walk?
“You made your choice, Cupcake,” he said, stopping before the kitchen counter.
I furrowed my eyebrows as my pace decreased.
“Cupcake? Where did that come from?” I questioned him with a frown.
He shrugged, “That’s my new nickname for you, but I’ll only call you that whenever we’re alone. Like right now…’ His tone dropped a few octaves and he took a step closer to me.
“Don’t.” I muttered but somehow, remained rooted on the spot. My eyes fell on his dangerously attractive eyes as they pierced into my soul. His thick eyebrows shrouded his beautiful orbs, giving them a more dangerous and mysterious aura.
A smirk curled up his lips. “Don’t what/”
He was now standing so dangerously close to me, I could the breath from his mouth as he spoke.
I raised my right hand and abruptly, thrust it into his torso with enough force to make him groan. I quickly walked out of the corner he pinned me to.
“Quit being an ass and let’s cook,” I said.
He faced me with a look of both amusement and surprise. “You’re wild,” he remarked.
“I can do more than just a simple punch in the gut if you’re not careful next time.’ I stated casually.
“Then Cupcake is not the name for you,” he said as he stood straight. “I’ll call you …Kitten.”
I almost groaned. “Please don’t,” I said.
“Why not? It suits you.” He said with a smug grin and I rolled my eyes.
“Duncan said not everyone knows you’re back yet. Where were you?” I asked, shifting the topic to him.
“Training.” came his short response. I waited for him to continue which he did.
“There’s this school for training soon-to-be Alphas in Europe so Dad had me go there.” He explained as he picked some ingredients for cooking.
“So what did you learn?” I asked, punching playfully on his arm.
He faced me with a slight smile. “You’ll know the more you get to know me.” He said.
“Now enough talk. We’re preparing fried cheese curds so watch and learn.” He said and turned on the tap in the sink, filling a bowl with water.
I looked at him with a surprised gaze. “Wait, you can cook, for real?” I asked.
The corner of his lips lifted into a smirk. “I told you, Kitten, there are a lot of things you don't know about me.”
