Chase's POV:
Two days ago I saw a girl. I don't know what her name was. She looked so pretty. I haven't seen anyone with such perfect skin before. I have no idea what happened, but I want to see her again. There is something in this girl that makes me want to go back to her. She has something that no one has. The weirdest thing is that we haven't met. She must live in this town. It's not like I know everyone here. What is interesting is that she has no idea who my father is. Maybe I can use this in my favor. Well, she thinks that I'm rich and selfish. Only the rich part is the truth. I'm not like him. Somehow, I will find a way to prove it to her. The thing is that I don't want her to think bad stuff about me. She might have an opinion of the wealthy people in town, but it's not the same for everyone. I'm trying to be good to everyone. That's why I'm helping. It's not like she accepted it. The way she was sitting made me think she was homeless. I guess I was wrong. I still think she is. No matter if I want to help her, I don't think she will accept it. This girl is stubborn. Somehow, she managed to make me feel better. I had dinner with my parents. Dad might try to set me up with a girl. That is the last thing I want to happen. I prefer to pick the girl myself. Well, she has to be parents approved. Mostly, we talk about my dad. As long as I am happy, my mom will be happy too. I don't understand why he wants the girl to be like me. She doesn't need to be rich. Also, I don't want her to be. I want to take care of her. First, I need to find her. That might take me some time. The girl I saw made a great first impression. I want to go and see her again. I hope that this time, my conversation with her will be better.
It's another working day for me. I might take a break soon. It's not like I need it, but I would like to have some time for myself. Also, I don't need to be with my dad. No offense to him, but that is too much for me. Maybe I can use the chance to find this girl. This time, I will ask for her name. I don't expect her to tell me, but I can try. It might be worth it. I don't know why I want to see her again. She has something that no one else has.
I woke up and went to get ready for the day. It's good to be back at my house. Mostly I stay in my parent's one because of my mom. She likes it when I am at home. I haven't stopped her from visiting me. The thing is that I want to be alone. That was the idea of moving out. I will always see my parents. After all, we work together every day. When I was ready, I went to eat. I can't skip my breakfast. Then I saw a missed call from my mom.
- Hello. Why do I have a missed call from you?
- Because I wanted to call you.
- Do you have to tell me something? We'll see each other soon.
- Well, your dad is already at work.
- That early? Why?
- He said that he had an important meeting.
- Does this mean I have to be there too?
- I don't know. He might want you there.
- Mom, I have enough work. I will never be able to finish it if he keeps bringing me everywhere with him.
- I'm sorry, but you know him.
- Can't you talk to him about that? He might listen to you. I didn't have success.
- I can try, but I can't promise you anything.
- Ok, thanks. I'll see you soon. Bye, mom.
- Bye, honey. - she said, and I ended the call
After breakfast, I went to work. I slightly looked at the room for meetings. Dad was with other people. Most of them work here, but not all. Maybe they are investors. I went to my office and called Annie to come.
- Hello, mister. I mean, Chase.
- Good. What do you have for me today?
- Some mail and documents to sign. The usual.
- Ok, let's sign first. What is that? A contract?
- Yeah, your dad wanted your opinion about this. It's a deal with one company.
- Are you kidding me? No. I'm not signing this. Also, why me? He is the boss.
- But you will be the next one.
- Don't remind me, please. I will talk with him about that after his meeting. What is next?
- These are agreement stuff. You have to sign that you agree with whatever it's written here. - she said, and I laughed
- You haven't read them, did you?
- No, I didn't. - she said, chuckling
- It's ok. I will check them. You can open the mail. If you have work to do, you can go. I'll deal with this.
- No, it's ok. That way, we'll finish faster.
- True.
For half an hour, Annie and I were ready. I have to say that she is the best assistant ever. This girl knows how to work quickly with everything. I am not changing her. Once, my dad wanted to change her. I stepped in and said no. He might not like working with her, but I do. She does her job well.
On my lunch break, I took Annie with me. Usually, she eats at her place, but today will be different. She is single. That way, I won't have problems with a jealous boyfriend. Also, I don't like her that way. She is a nice girl, but we only work together.
- How are you today? I don't want to talk about work. - I said
- Me either, but I'm fine. Thanks for asking.
- Is there a man around you?
- I wish. I can't find the right guy.
- What this means?
- I want to be with someone who is like me.
- That might be a bit hard.
- I know, but I don't plan to give up. What about you? Is there a special girl?
- No. Even if there was, my dad has to approve her.
- Why? You will date her.
- Yes, but he wants her to be wealthy and with good manners. This means no poor girls are accepted.
- That is a bit rude. No one chooses what to be. I mean, rich or poor.
- I know, but he can't see that. I'm trying to be nice to everyone. If I see a homeless person, I always give money. Mostly, that is because I feel bad for them. It's not like all of them do it.
- A homeless person will refuse to take money?
- It's a long story.
- I believe that something has happened.
- I gave a hundred-dollar bill to a girl, but she didn't take it. I didn't have less. My other bill was one dollar. That is not enough.
- She didn't take it.
- Nope.
- That is interesting. Are you sure she was homeless?
- She said no, but I don't believe her. The girl was sitting on the ground with a backpack. That's why I thought it.
- Be careful next time.
- Who said there would be a next time?
- I think there will be. Was the girl pretty?
- I haven't checked her. I saw her after dinner with my parents. It was already dark.
- Make sure your dad won't understand.
- I don't plan to tell him at all.
- Good. If you like her, go for it. Don't wait.
- I just met her. Why do you think I like her?
- Because your eyes tell me everything. - she whispered
- What?
- What you heard.
- Maybe we should talk about work.
- Maybe. - she said, chuckling
We ate our lunch peacefully and then went back to work. I called Annie to help me with some things. I have some work from yesterday. Let's say that I couldn't finish everything. Some days, we get a lot of mail. There are a lot of newsletters and flyers. Buy two and get a third one for free or fifty percent off. I usually throw them away. This is spam for me. When I finished here, I went to talk with my dad about the deal from the morning. I told him that I wouldn't agree to this.
Around 5 pm, I finished my job. I don't have to do anything else. I went home and left the car. Then I walked out again. I went to a small restaurant for dinner. I like having company, but I need some time for myself. After all, I spend every day with people. It's not like I mind, but I like being alone. It won't do any harm.
- How much do I owe you for everything?
- Let me see. Thirty-five dollars and eighty cents.
- Here you go. The food was delicious.
- Thank you. I'm glad that you like it. Here is your exchange.
- Keep it.
- Thanks.
I should go home, but it's early. One walk won't be that bad. It's not like I know where I am going. On the way, I saw two boys picking up donuts. Since the employees have thrown them away, I don't think they are for eating. I checked my pocket to see how much money I had. Then I walked to the boys.
- Hey, don't eat that. It might be spoiled.
- No, they are fresh. They take them out after every shift. These are good. Do you want one? - one of the boys asked me
- No, thanks. I already had dinner. Here, take this.
- Is this for us?
- Yes, it is. You can buy real food.
- Thank you so much. - they said and hugged me
- You're welcome.
I feel bad for such people. I wish the country or the government could do something for all the homeless people. As I was walking, I saw her again. That is my chance. She might not want to talk with me, but I don't care. I want to see her. She is pretty.
- Hello. Did you miss me?
- You? Again? Great. My day can't get any better.
- How are you?
- Good. Why are you here?
- I have been walking around. I saw two boys eating dirty donuts.
- Oh, I know them.
- Really?
- Yes. The donuts are not dirty. I have seen employees taking unsold donuts every day and throwing them away. That is food waste. Some so many people can eat them.
- You know the boss is making them do that.
- I know, but it's still wrong.
- We can't do anything about that.
- Sad, but true.
- You look great.
- Oh, thanks. These clothes are not expensive.
- So? They still look good on you.
- If you think that this will make me feel better, you are wrong.
- No, I mean it.
- Oh, I'm sorry.
- It's ok. Now, will you tell me your secret?
- What secret?
- How do you have such a perfect skin?
- What?
- Look at yourself. What do you use?
- Nothing. I don't take care of it.
- That is not true.
- It is. I have more important things to do.
- Like what?
- Why do you need to know?
- Because I am curious. Will you tell me your name? If I want to see you again, I should ask people for you.
- Brianna. My name is Brianna, but some people call me Bri.
- Bri. I like it. This suits you perfectly. Your parents found the perfect name.
- Thanks.
- Are you ok? Did I say something?
- No, everything is fine.
- Hey, you can share it with me. I won't tell anyone. I know what you think about rich people, but I promise I'm not like them. I want to be a good person.
- You already are.
- Why are you so sure?
- Because I see it. No one else has been interested in me.
- Well, I am.
- Why?
- I don't know. Something made me come back to you.
- You know I can't give you anything.
- I do, but I don't care.
- Good for you.
- Are you sure you don't need money?
- I am. I have a job.
- That's good. May I know where?
- So you can come to see me?
- Maybe.
- I work in a coffee shop.
- I might start taking my coffee from you.
- You're welcome any time.
- Thanks.
I kept talking with Bri. Believe it or not, I don't want to leave. We are only talking. This is much more than that to me. There is something that caught my attention. It's not only her beauty. I have no idea what it is, but it made me stay. Well, I had to let her go. This doesn't mean I won't see her again. It won't be the last time. I will keep coming back. The girl didn't say she was homeless directly. At least she didn't hide this time. I don't know why we met, but I will take it as a gift. No one else can compare with her. The only thing I have to do is keep her away from my dad. I hope that he won't understand about it.
