Her first day at work

She was woken up by cold water that was splashed on her face, she felt her body freeze because of the cold water.

"Wake up you lazy cat, are you aware that you will have to make us breakfast before you go to that new work of yours. It would be one of the happiest days of my life if you get fired before you can even start working in that company." My grandmother was shouting such that her eardrums were hurting.

She did not understand why this woman hates her so much, there are five girls in this house, her included of course.

There are also helpers in this house but out of all the ladies in this house she is the only one who has to make breakfast.

She is usually the first person to wake up in this house, when the princesses and princes wake up, they have to find a table full of breakfast dishes.

Unfortunately she is also the last person to sleep in this house. She has to make sure that all helpers have eaten and she has cleaned the kitchen before she sleeps.

You can roughly say, she is the maid in this house, since she cleans after everyone including the maids such that they do not even respect her.

She remembers the first day they forced her to clean up the kitchen, one helper was literally punished for helping her clean up, yep that is the story of her life.

Sometimes she really curses the day she was born but there is one thing that has kept her alive till now. She knows she was born for a purpose and she will only die when she has fulfilled that purpose.

"Grandma I am so sorry, I thought I had set the alarm clock. I will go prepare breakfast immediately."

"You better be fast, as much as I do not want you to work in that company, I also do not want to be seen being involved in you being late. My image in this society is very important, and one last thing before you go, make sure you do not talk rubbish about us! If you don't get there on time, do not mention anything about you making breakfast for the family first before going to work."

"Grandma do not worry, I know what to say and what not to say in order to live in peace with you."

She quickly ran straight to the bathroom to wash herself so that she can go prepare breakfast for them.

When she got to the kitchen, her step brother, Samuel, had already defrosted Russians and bacon for her.

She felt her eyes get wet, he is the only person that treats her like a human being in this house. "Thank you very much Sam, you are a rare treasure."

"Oh don't thank me yet, I still need a favour from you."

"Oh no, here I am thinking that you are doing this because you love me yet it's because you need something from me. My heart hurts so much from hearing this." She touched where her heart was as she was saying that.

They both giggled at each other, he helped her out in preparing the breakfast, which made it very fast and she was very glad that she will be able to catch a bus.

After setting the table, she double checked if everything has been put on the table, she really did not want her day to be ruined by her grandmother even before it get started.

She ran straight to her grandmother's bedroom to tell her that breakfast was ready then headed to her bedroom to prepare for work.

This is her first day at work and she did not want to be late on her first day. They always say first impression last longer and she does not want to be known as someone that does not keep time.

When she was done dressing up, she stood before the huge mirror she had in her bedroom and she was pleased with her look, it certainly screams 'beautiful'.

Yes that is one of the things my mom taught me before she died, which is never expect people to praise you. You should pat yourself on the back most of the time. Believe me it helps a lot especially when growing up in an environment like the one I am in. She spoke these words out loud luckily she was alone.

She was dressed in a conservative navy blue office sleeveless dress that has a coat with short sleeve. She has put on floral heels that match perfectly with her outfit. She has tied her hair into a bun and she has also applied red lipstick on her lips with light make up on her face.

After checking herself she grabbed her handbag and headed out of the house. Her grandmother looked at her and she seems irritated but she is holding herself.

She wondered why she has not stopped her from going to work because she could see that she does not like it but she is keeping it to herself.

Is it possible that she knows the owner and is also scared of him? She can only ask this question in her mind and not out loud unless she wants to receive some spanking.

If that is the case then that would be great because that would mean she will make it a point to spend more time at work than here, without her grandmother giving her any problems. If she shift all the blame to being given too much work then it would have been a huge relieve. She laughed on the inside for having such thoughts.

As she heads out of the house, Samuel calls her out. He insists on taking her to work. She was a bit reluctant because she wanted to see how long it will take to get to work using a public transport since that is what she will be using most of the time.

She knows that her grandmother does not want her to have the privilege of using a private car. She always says, "your mother did not even own a bicycle before she died but here you are asking if it's possible to use a car. Use what your mother used when she was still alive." And that is exactly what she has been using.

But she knows her brother is not someone that is easily persuaded so she jumped into his car. She sees him looking at his wrist watch and she was thinking that they were probably late.

So she also looked at the time on her phone and she saw that there was plenty of time to get there even if there is traffic on the way.

He drives the car and stops in front of a coffee shop. He gets out of the car before she could ask why they were stopping here.

After ten minutes he comes back with a cup of coffee and a sandwich. He hands it to her then says "it will not be good to start your first day on an empty stomach."

Her eyes got wet and she wondered why her brother is always this good to her despite the fact that they have different mothers.

She hears her brother say, "don't you dare think about crying. We do not want you to get to your new work place with red eyes now don't we?

She nodded her head then said, "Thank you so much Sam, I will definitely not forget how good you were to me when I have reached to the top."

"Oh there is no way you can forget me baby girl, I will be right behind your back in every event you attend screaming on top of my lungs saying 'that is my baby sis' then everyone attending that function will know your brother."

They both laugh at his words and he starts the car and heads to the direction of the company.

Her brother has made it his mission to drop her off at the company before he heads to work.

He is working at the family's company and he is second in command after their grandmother. So no one can have a problem with him if he comes in late.

The family company deals with almost the same thing as the company she will be working in. He is also not happy about her coming to work here but they did have a heart to heart conversation before she applied for the job so he has slowly accepted it.

He stops right at the entrance and gets out of the car to go open the door for her, she blushed and thanks him for that.

Behind them, stops a very expensive car that even her grandmother does not own, the driver gets out and comes to their direction.

"Good morning, move your car only the boss is allowed to have his car parked here." The driver speaks in a rude tone.

She saw her brother getting irritated and before he can answer, she decided to talk to him so she held his hands and said, "thank you so much for dropping me off, I will call you after work."

Then she looks back at the driver and said, "we are sorry about that, this is our first time here and we do not know much about your rules. There will definitely not be a next time. Please do apologise to your boss for us."

She heads straight into the entrance, she looks back and sees Sam shaking his head then got in the car and drives away.

She looks at the car that stopped behind them and wished she could see the boss that has sent his man to move them but the windows are too dim for her to see inside.

She went into the reception area and talked to the receptionist who directs her to where she needs to go and headed to the elevator.

She saw three elevators and she was actually impressed that this company is very considerate but she also wonder why everyone is not using the elevator that was on the left.

Without giving it much thought she heads straight to it and she saw people dressed in black suits in it.

She rush in quickly before it closes. She bumps into a strong and tall body of a man dressed in a navy blue suit. All the papers he had on his hands scatter on the floor.
