Sword of the old

Azazel laughed out loud, “What is it, demon? I thought you were gonna put me down? Where is that fire?” Tor glared back with extreme hatred but his body was far too damaged. He groaned and fell to his knees. Rose made her way to him and used her healing powers to help him the best she could. The angel snorted at this, “Very well, let’s finish this.” Without a warning, the angel charged. The demons didn’t even have a chance to ready themselves and he was already on to them. He was strong, too strong; one sweep was all it took to cleave down five men. The ones who tried to retaliate were brutally put to rest as the angel crushed them with his tremendous power. And all the while, his eyes held an unnerving glee and thirst. The demons were shaking to their boots, not even sure if they could win against such a monster. They didn’t even realize but they were now short on twenty men in a matter of seconds. Azazel smiled cruelly and looked upon his prey with crazed eyes. The demons were putting up a brave exterior yet the stench of fear under them was unmistakable. Azazel rushed forward to end the rest; he would have too, if it wasn’t for a shield to stop his sword, shocking him. The Shield wielder then slashed at the angel with his sword, forcing Azazel to block it. He skidded backwards due to the attack and glared at his attacker. It was William, now clad in his demonic armour along with his sword and shield. Lifting up the shield before him, William readied his sword as the Helmet folded out of his armour and covered his face. Azazel smirked as he saw the old demon getting ready. “Are you serious? Just so you could stop my normal attacks you think that you can defeat me?” Every Demon who heard this now had eyes as big as saucers, not even willing to imagine what a more powerful attack could do if normal attacks were strong enough to kill so many of them. Yet their leader stood unfazed and silent. The angel snorted at this, “Arrogant aren’t you…..Let’s fix that.” He grinned maniacally and attacked. William stood his ground, allowing Azazel to come closer. His men watching his back with hitched breath yet the old demon stood still. The angel lifted the Sorrow Breaker and smashed towards him. Azazel smiled in glee thinking the sword would cleave the filthy demon in half but before the blade made contact, William made a slight movement towards the left and the sword smashed into the floor, breaking the ground, yet missing William by a mere inch. Azazel was shocked as he never predicted such a move, but this brief pause left him open and this was all the opening the Captain needed. In a blink of an eye William moved inside Azazel’s defence and struck hard. This happened so fast that Azazel nearly missed it. The angel twisted his body out of the reach of Williams’s sword yet the demonic sword managed to glance by his abdomen. It wasn’t fatal yet it wounded his pride more than his body. Azazel roared and swings his sword towards the demon, William took a step back, the sword missing his head by an inch, again leaving Azazel open for another strike, which the demon took remorselessly. As the two leaders of the either factions duelled, their men didn’t intervene but marvelled at their skills. It was clear that Azazel was far stronger than William yet the old demon was more experienced. Roaring in rage, he attacked again, only to be danced around by William and countered. “Stand still you, Filth!” the angel roared, getting more frustrated and angry due to his lack of success. Exactly what William intended. The demons now had a hope that they might actually survive this after all, if their leader dies, the angel would have to retreat and so, they allowed themselves a faint hope of victory. But William knew he had to be very careful, especially with a foe like Azazel whose single attack can cripple him. Azazel was losing it. The coward demon was now making him angry beyond comprehension. But he was light on his feet and avoided his every attack. The angel had to do something fast or else face humiliation by the hands of a demon. ‘Not on my watch!’ he bellowed internally. Azazel attacked again, William expected this and dodged. Then he went in for the attack. What he didn’t expect was how Azazel made no move to avoid it like William thought he would and couldn’t stop his approach in time. He paid for it as Azazel’s hand shot out and grabbed the old Demon by his neck. William, in his shock let go of his sword and tried to stop Azazel from chocking him. The angel threw the old Demon on the ground, knocking the wind out of him. While he was dazed, Azazel raised his sword high. He yelled loudly as the sorrow breaker got engulfed in Azazel’s blue angelic Maya. William brought up his shield in a pitiful attempt to protect himself but even he knew that the effort would be futile. But to their surprise, the Captain felt the other demons charged in order to save their leader. Tor tackled Azazel to the ground, breaking his attack and gave several devastating punches on his face. The dazed angels recovered soon and joined the skirmish as well. William groaned.  ‘Idiots’ He thought yet was inwardly grateful that his men saved him. But it was fruitless as Azazel was destroying them once again. “He’s too strong! Everyone fall back!” the captain cried but his men couldn’t follow his command as the angels had blocked every possible escape. Luna re-engaged with the enemy, her fire power gave them a much needed breather but alas it was cut short as well. Knowing how formidable the Phoenix was, the Angels shot at her, taking at last four shots to bring her down. She yelped in pain as her Phoenix body crashed down on the floor before reverting back to her normal humanoid form. Feeling the ground shake because of heavy steps, Luna turned only to meet the cold gaze of Azazel. He stalked towards her and growled, “You and your kind have always been a trouble in our ass for a very long time, Brutum. Now join the rest of your fallen brethren!” The angel charged towards her, Luna weakly stood up and readied herself. Just when Azazel was about to attack Luna, Rose had already sneaked up behind him and slashed at his back, halting his attack. Seeing her chance Luna yelled, “Fire Ball!” and launched a very concentrated ball of fire at the Angel leader, engulfing him in a powerful explosion. Luna panted heavily, as she had almost used up all her energy. She was about to fall to her knee but Rose came over to support her. “Thanks!” Luna chirped happily. Rose nodded in acknowledgement. Just when they believed that it was over. “You think something like that will stop me?” Rose and Luna looked shell shocked as Azazel walked out of the flames without any sort of injuries.  “Impossible…” The demoness muttered as Azazel shrugged off his cramps and spoke, “You’re good I give you that, Brutum. But I am just far beyond your level.” Luna gritted her teeth in anger because she really wanted to beat the crap out of that mean Angel. Rose frowned sensing the female Brutum’s anger but in her condition, Luna would just likely hurt herself. “Lady Luna, please calm down.” She hushed holding Luna upright as her fatigue was starting to take toll. Azazel smirked and headed straight towards them. Seeing she had no other choice Rose drew her sabre and stood in front of Luna, steadying her, even though she knew it was a suicide. It all happened in slow motion. Azazel raised his sword, each stride pushing him closer, his armour and sword reflecting the red light of the flames behind him, giving the angel an ironic hellish glow. His dark eyes behind the visor beamed with anticipation of cleaving through demon flesh……… And a crushing fist which came and collided with his face, putting web like cracks all over the helmet. The cracks grew in size and soon broke. His shocked face soon adapted the expression of pain as his nose and mouth dripped Immortal blood and the very pissed look of the owner of the fist who put more effort into the punch, successfully breaking the helmet and sending Azazel swirling into the ground, causing everyone’s jaws to drop. Azazel coughed and looked up, “WHO DARES!” only to be kicked in the face, sending him skidding away towards the other angels, causing them to cringe. Rose looked at her saviour and felt her hope reignite. There he stood, his left hand holding his double barrelled gun and right hand pulled into a fist. “You talk too much.” Lucifer mumbled, dusting his coat. Turning to the girl he spoke sincerely, “Thank you for looking after her.” The Angel leader was beyond pissed. Here he was winning and suddenly this man comes and punched him like hell. And the fact that it hurt like hell was even worst. He stood up and glared at the man. Lucifer brought his gun near his face and ran his hand across it, speaking in a lax tone, “You know the feeling when you lose something of yours…..” The Angels behind Azazel shot Maya blasts at him, but to their surprise. Lucifer dodged the attacks effortlessly while still speaking, “And you finally find it….” Some angels attacked him head on, only to either get shot in the face or taken down by a quick melee attack. Seeing his skills put the angels on edge, causing them to be more cautious. Lucifer made eye contact with Azazel, “On someone else?” Azazel had no idea why but the way the man said it and the look in his eyes unsettled him, shocking his men as they had never seen their leader intimidated. Azazel gritted his teeth and glared. He barked, “And who the hell are you!” Lucifer raised his brow at this. Silence followed, and then Lucifer shrugged, “Just another old man, kid.” The kid part must have ticked Azazel up cause he roared in anger and dashed towards Lucifer. The fallen cracked his neck and charged back. “Die!” Azazel roared and brought his sword down at the blond, but before he could execute the attack, Lucifer held the angel’s wrist and stopped the attack, shocking everyone. “HUH!” But Azazel couldn’t pounder at this for long as Lucifer kneed him in the gut. He had to back off because of this but Lucifer pressed the attack and punched the Angel. He was gonna attack again but halted and moved away as the enemies team opened fire at him. The demons opened fire at the angels as well in his aid while he himself whipped out his Boom Stick and let loose two rounds, ending two angel rangers. While Lucifer was distracted, Azazel poured an unhealthy amount of Maya into the Sorrow Breaker, making the sword even more devastating than before form the power boost. “Block this you BASTURD!” yelled Azazel. Attacking Lucifer from behind. “Luci!” Luna yelled out of fear. Lucifer turned just in time to see Sorrow breaker, now glowing blue because of Azazel’s Maya, descending towards his head. The Angel smirked like a mad man when the sword collided; believing that he had him but his smile faded when Lucifer unfolded his Golden wing and blocked the attack. The attack was by far the most devastating one Azazel had used, so much that a ripple in air could be seen due to the sheer power behind it. Yet Lucifer blocked it like nothing. Both of them jumped back to put distance between themselves. Azazel now realizing that his opponent was in fact an angel, he spat with a disgusted glared, “Are you out of your mind? Why are you helping these Demons! Have you forgotten whom your duty is to serve?” Lucifer shrugged his shoulder, “Nah, The last time I knew, they said I wasn’t needed.” He moved a bit to the right when Azazel attacked and used his gun to fire at the enraged angel. “Blasphemous traitor, I’ll have your head for this!” He attacked relentlessly and Lucifer dodged and countered with occasional blocks and parry. “Amazing, it’s like he isn’t even trying.” Mumbled Rose as Lucifer parried an attacked and shot another round at the angel, seemingly mesmerized by the skills of the Fallen. Every movement was perfect, every counter was flawless. Ever attack was precise. William nodded in acknowledgement. “You should have seen him with Sorrow Breaker. He and his sword combined. Lucifer is practically invincible.” Back at the duelling fighters, Azazel blocked another punch from the fallen with the sword. The force behind the punch made his hand numb for a moment. ‘The hell is this guy!’ Azazel’s glare hardened. He looked into Lucifer’s stoic eyes and growled, “Is this how far you’ve fallen? Meddling with Demons? Attacking your own kin?” Lucifer scoffed at this, “You talk too much.” He muttered and shot Azazel’s feet, making him kneel due to the sudden impact, “It’s starting to piss me off….” Lucifer spoke before performing a round house kick at Azazel which he blocked with sorrow breaker, “And you know what ticks me off….You using something that is not yours.” Lucifer growled. This confused Azazel but didn’t have time to pounder at it as Lucifer quickly closed the distance between them and performed a volley of melee attacks. Which Azazel was having a very hard time countering, and then out of the blue, Lucifer took a hold of Azazel’s sword arm, followed by a punch which stunned the angel. Lucifer let go of his arm and gave a devastating upper cut, knocking the Leader right off his legs. The pain he felt was more than anything he felt in a very long time and in his pain he made a grave mistake……..his grip on his sword loosened. Just what Lucifer wanted. He lunged forward into the air and reached out. The swords hilt in reach, Lucifer pressed on and finally grasped the hilt. ‘After so many years...’ a ghost of smile graced his lips. Everyone’s breath hitched in awe as golden aura bathed the sword. It felt so natural in Lucifer’s grasp as if the sword itself had recognised its true wielder. Lucifer held the sword in two hands and set his eyes on the now downed Azazel. “Let’s go old friend.” Lucifer mumbled and spinned along with the sword as he descended. Causing enough momentum to amplify the attack power ten folds! As the Spinning Sword of death descended down at Azazel, he felt a sensation he hadn’t felt in a long time, Fear. It was then he remembered. What the man said, ‘you using something not yours…’ Azazel then realized something. Sorrow breaker was awarded to him so many years ago but before him, someone else was the wielder of the mighty sword, a very strong warrior. Azazel now could see clearer. That man, Azazel could imagine that man having longer hair and adorning golden armour. His eyes widened at this. He remembered who the fallen angel was. The General. The Traitor. The eldest. The Strongest, “Lucifer…” He closed his eyes, waiting for the attack to send his essence to oblivion. Yet the pain didn’t come. And to his shock, someone stood before him. It was the new kid, Gabriel. Lucifer was surprised. Another angel had stopped the blow meant for Azazel. This angel seemed young, almost still a boy and yet he had stopped his attack. True the kid didn’t go unscathed. His shield was nearly ruined and his armour up to his left shoulder was destroyed. Hell the shield survived only because the boy’s Maya had enhanced it with his defensive capabilities. Yet there was something in that boy, something in his eyes which looked very familiar. “Interesting…” Gabriel gritted his teeth, feeling like an entire mountain just hit his arm. With a heave, he managed to push the sword away. Lucifer took a step back, still eyeing him with curiosity. ‘Damn it, how strong is this guy? Even without the sword he was powerful and now with the Sorrow Breaker, We don’t have a chance of winning!’ where what Gabriel thought as he kneeled. The rest of the angel warriors rushed up besides them, their number now only six including Gabriel and Azazel. They helped them up while their weapons were still trained at the fallen angel, whose demon allies were now besides him. Gabriel noticed how bad their situation was, their leader was down, the demons had cornered them and had them out numbered two to one. Worst of all, the enemy now had possession of the Sorrow Breaker. William stood before his men and spoke, “It is over now Angels. Surrender now.” Azazel glared at the old demon but winched as his wounds hurt. With gritted teeth and a reluctant voice he ordered, “Angels….fall back.”  The Demons cheered at this. They had won. They had cheated certain death. All thanks to their saviour. Lucifer felt someone pat his shoulder; he turned and saw it was none other than William. “Thank you.” “I didn’t do it for you.” Grumbled Lucifer who was watching Luna, who stood besides Rose and cheered along with the demons. William nodded at this, but could care less for now. They had achieved victory and were still alive. But their commotion ended as the entire ship shook with a moan and it sent very bad vibes down everyone. Followed by several howls, the Demons felt a chill run through them while the angels were confused. The ship shook even more sending everyone on disarray. “What trickery is this Demon?” A very cruel realization passed through William. He was so occupied with the angels and protecting the key that they had forgot about their cargo. Their very dangerous and volatile cargo. More howls were heard and sound of metal being torn apart filled the hanger. The Hell-hounds had been set free and were tearing the ship down faster than ever. “We need to move now!” But he was too late. A head of a Hound tore through the metal wall and picked a demon, dragging him along with it. The Demons panicked and made their way towards the escape vessels, while the angels were preparing for flight themselves. The ship suddenly tilted at a very extreme degree, dragging most of the escape vehicles down and crushing them. “THE SHIP IS GOING DOWN!” yelled Tor William got into the escape vehicle. Lucifer let Luna inside and followed himself. William looked around and saw only seven of his crew had survived. With a grim tone he asked, “Did we get everyone?”   “Wait! Rose is still there!” Luna cried. True to her words the sliver haired demoness was sprinting towards the vessel while the ship was starting to tilt even more. “We have to go fast or this vessel will fall as well!” yelled the man who had taken the control of the ship. Luna panicked at this. Rose was running as fast as she could towards the ship, avoiding all the debris and fire falling on her but the gradual inclination of the floor was making her advances harder. Now the vessel had already taken off the floor. Rose ran faster. Luna looked with her hand on her mouth as she saw her new friend struggling to get in. Just when she thought Rose would make it, the ship’s floor broke apart, separating her from the vessel. Seeing no other choice, Rose made a run for it and jumped off and the ship behind them exploded. Rose soared through the air towards them. But gradually her trajectory was sending her not towards the vessel but a bit downwards. And a fall from this height could be fatal. Luna watched helplessly as Rose was about to fall to her death, till a hand shot out and took a hold of Rose’s arm. Luna jumped in joy as William pulled Rose inside the vessel with a mighty heave. As soon as Rose touched the ground, she got a bone crushing hug from Luna. Who was frankly just worried for her well being but that did confuse Rose with such display of affection. “Everyone alright?” asked William. Lucifer sat heavily on the seat. He dusted his jacket and grumbled, “Great, my clothes are ruined, “Everyone shared a laugh at this. The pilot turned to them and asked, “Back to the outpost sir?” William nodded. The pilot was gonna do what his captain ordered had not a maya blast made a hole in his chest, instantly killing him. Without the pilot the vessel went into a spinning spree. “Damned angels! Don’t they ever give up?” roared Tor, taking a hold of the control to stabilize the vessel.  “LOOK OUT!” everyone yelled. Tor turned only to see a huge debris falling their way, he tried to steer the ship away but it was too late. The debris hit them and took away half of the vessel. Lucifer tried to take a hold of Luna but he was blinded by the impact. And before he knew it, he was falling………………………
