Adonis toyed with the phone in his hands,he had just gotten a shocking and surprising news and he was still thinking of what he would do with such information.Gaius gulped and stared at his boss in fear, his thoughts written all over his face to the extent that Adonis had no other choice but to tell him what the stranger on the phone had just said.“What was the name of that woman again?” He asked Gaius.“Huh? Which woman?” Gaius asked back.“The one who you said that I…”“Ohh, miss Layla Holloway” Gaius said with lit up eyes, his body language showed that he was ready and eager for gossip.“Well…Miss Holloway just called and told me that she is pregnant” Adonis dropped the bombshell.Gaius felt like the world was spinning .“Wow! You are such a powerful boss, just once and you already got her belly swollen” Gaius exclaimed excitedly.“Are you a dummy? Have you forgotten that I had a vasectomy last year? So it's impossible” Adonis spelt out, Gaius felt his body shiver as cold water was poured on him, dampening his excitement.“That's true,I guess that she is just like the other women , trying to tie you down with a pregnancy that doesn't belong to you, If she's even pregnant at all” Gaius scoffed.Just then the phone rang again, Gaius made to pick the call but Adonis gave him a chilling glare,he clenched his hands and gave Adonis a flattering smile.The phone rang persistently for some minutes but none of them picked it up.“Just let it be, she's going to get frustrated at some point” Adonis said with a bored sigh before focusing on the documents he was signing.© ©“s**t! Such a cocky bastard, you think I even want to call you?” Layla said into the phone angrily.Layla had called Adonis' line 10 times but he hadn't answered any of them apart from the first one where he had called her delusional before disconnecting the call.He was her last bus stop, now she was desperate and needed someone to help.Layla stood up from her bed and rushed to her wardrobe, she brought out her clothes and quickly dressed, taking her purse which contained the little amount of money that she had left, Layla stepped out of the room.Layla looked at the large bustling company, housed in an imposing looking 40 storey building that had been meticulously designed by its own personal designers and built by its personal construction workers and engineers was Erold corporation.The largest corporation in the country.With a determined gaze, Layla walked into the company “Hi, I'm Miss Holloway. I want to see your CEO,” Layla said to the receptionist.The female receptionist who was busy filling in records of visitors into her visitor's log book raised her head and looked at her with a small smile on her face.“That would be possible, Miss if you have an appointment with him, do you?” She asked with a polite smile.Layla bit her lips and looked around the bustling company “can you call him for me? Tell him that there's a miss Holloway waiting for him and it's important” Layla said, at the end of her statement,she was almost begging the receptionist The lady shook her head “I'm sorry mam but that's protocol and I don't want to get fired” the receptionist said.Layla took a deep breath and looked around the company, thinking of what would be her chances of not being caught by the security men if she made a run towards the elevator.She was desperate and ready to take any chances.Layla took off immediately, heading towards the elevator, there was a commotion as people who weren't aware of who she was wondered why she was running to the elevator.The receptionist screamed, “mama you can't do that! Security! There's been a break in” the security guards….”The efficient security guards trooped into the company immediately, by then, Layla had reached the executive elevator which was meant solely for the CEO and other important members of the company.She hit the buttons quickly but unfortunately for her there was someone in the elevator and they were coming down, she looked back and found out that the security men were close .With a ding , the elevator opened and to her excitement, The person she saw inside was the person she wanted to see the most.“Thank God Mr Elrod, I've been wanting to see you” she breathed out and slumped into his arms © ©Adonis tapped his watch impatiently, feeling that his schedule had been rudely interrupted and he hated that feeling so much.He was in a hospital ward and on the bed of the hospital was the black haired woman who he slept with last month, the woman who was once the CEO of a company but has lost everything because he had s*x with her.“It's not my fault, I gladly took what came to my doorstep” he muttered.Layla, who was lying on the bed, stirred slowly and opened her eyes, seeing the familiar white ceiling of hospitals which she hated.“What am I doing here?” Layla asked in a hoarse voice, looking around the ward, she was surprised to see Adonis Elrod seated on a seat beside her bedside.“Mr Elrod,i need to talk to you…” she made to stand up from the bed but Adonis held her down.“Calm down Miss Holloway, no need to be so anxious the doctor said you should have some rest” He said .Layla insisted “ I have something important to say to you Mr Elrod, it's extremely important”“The fact that you are pregnant? And I'm the father of your unborn child?” He asked with raised brows.Layla stilled and looked at him with obscure eyes `` You don't believe me…you think that I'm trying to pin someone's else's child on your head?” She asked in surprise.“ Yes, considering the fact that one month ago you were someone's wife and also The more intriguing fact that I had a vasectomy 1 year ago so it is impossible to father a child with Normal s****l procedures so Miss Layla Holloway tell me , who is the father of your child?”
