Chap 3 NELSON’S POV I pulled Marian out of the club to a dark corridor on the exit door of the club. Letting go of her hand, I gently ran my fingers through her soft black hair. My whole body tensed as I tried to understand what was happening. My heart was going wild in my chest and I hoped she couldn’t notice the way my breath hitched as she stepped closer. I gazed into her angelic eyes but I found that she was glancing down toward my lips and my stomach become a pit of nerves. I knew I was going to regret this but I did it anyway. I kissed her soft lips as my hands snaked her waist. Our bodies were so much close together and this sent sweet tingles of ecstasy through my body. She was irresistible and I did kiss her sweet lips over and over for the next couple of minutes till I finally managed to think straight. “We shouldn’t do this,” I pushed her away in impulse and adjusted the collar of my shirt. The images of Mary flashed through my mind and I just felt it was wrong making out with her yet Mary was still in the picture. I loved Mary for a long time and I never wanted that to change. She stood there running her fingers through her short hair and she also seemed to have regretted our actions. I can’t lie that she tasted sweet but I had a mission to accomplish and nothing would deter me from it. “I should go,” She scofffed shyly adjusting the dress that was on her mid-thigh courtesy of us making out. “Can I buy you a drink?” I implored because I never wanted her to take me as this man who always wants a one night stand with numerous girls in the street on Nairobi. “Cool,” She seemed hesitant with her answer but anyway we left the dark corridor where we had been making out and made our way to the club. Several couples were still dancing and kissing was the order of the day. I cringed to that and she pretended not to notice as we headed to the bar counter. “What should I get you guys,” The waiter who seemed to have been waiting for us all along asked. “Six tequila shots,” She ordered and even though I wanted to order scotch on rocks, I chose to go with shots. “What about you gentle man?” He turned to look at me. “The same order,” I stated. As soon as the shots were brought to us, we emptied them and the liquid burnt at the back of our throats. We scrunched our faces and then smiled to each other. “I guess it is nice meeting you Nelson,” She testified and before I made a comment on what she had just said, my phone wrung and my dad’s number flushed on the screen. I stared at the phone with my heart beating irrevocably fast. Without thinking twice, I excused myself and picked up the phone. “Hello dad,” I curtseyed. “I hope you got to meet her, be careful, she is very dangerous. Besides, you should be heading home as fast as possible, we have a business to discuss,” He boomed and my insides cringed because I had somehow f****d up the plans. I f*****g made out with her yet I wasn’t supposed to get to that with her. All I wanted was justice for Mary and all odds pointed to the fact that I had stepped outside the line. “I am careful dad, I will be home in an hour,” I blew several breaths after saying that and hang up the phone. He was absolutely right, I shouldn’t get attached. I never knew that I took that long till I got back and found her grinding on another man who seemed to be young and full of life. “That is enough, you are so drunk and you need to go home,” I said pulling her from the gentle man who pulled on a fight. I never wanted to fight so I just dared him to go ahead and slap me after I told him my real identity of being the son of the richest man in Kenya and how him hitting me would just turn his life upside down. He was shaken by this and to add on that, he left the club immediately. Others who overheard me saying that looked at me with jealous eyes and a couple of ladies nearby started seducing me. I was used to that sort of attention so I brushed it off. Marian just looked at me like she was going to cry and I had to pull her out of the club to my car so that I could drop her to her place, now that she had no home. She was just recently released from prison. I was mad at her for doing that to another man yet I am the one who brought her to this club in the first place. Seeing her dancing with someone else felt as if someone had spread gasoline over my heart and then set fire to it. The pain that come with it was excruciating enough. “Stop dragging me,” She begged as soon as we were back to the streets of Nairobi. “You f*****g made fun of me inside there!” I rumbled and she laughed till she doubled over. “Is that funny to you now!” I muttered in aggravation. “We are strangers Nelson, it doesn’t matter whom I dance with,” She lilted arrogantly. “f**k you!” I cussed letting her go and rubbing my finger tips on my forehead. “Is there anything you are not telling me? “She huffed after a long period of silence. “Of course not,” I muttered. It had already happened and I knew it. I felt something stronger than what I feel for Mary and I knew this was the first mistake in the whole plan. “Come, I will drive you home,” I offered and she shook her head in disapproval. “I will just walk there,” She mumbled before sauntering away.
