Chapter 11: Father

Glenn pulled up a chair and sat down, smiling: "This is the tableware from our hometown. Let me show you how it's done. With that, he expertly picked up a piece of fried meat with the chopsticks and put it in his mouth to chew. Leila and Bonnie looked at each other, both with a strong sense of novelty in their eyes. They mimicked Glenn's gestures and tried awkwardly. Perhaps they had got the hang of it, because the two were actually able to pick up the food quite quickly, much to Glenn's surprise. He had been prepared to get forks and spoons. He had only let them try the chopsticks out of interest, but now it seemed unnecessary. When the first bite hit her mouth, Layla couldn't help but narrow her eyes. The taste was intoxicating, not to the point of losing control, but enough for her to enjoy. Bonnie, of course, perhaps because of her natural charm, did not hold back the praise in her mouth. 'Oh! That taste! It's great!' These words made Glenn feel indescribably happy and he almost couldn't keep his composure. 'You're still students, aren't you? Is today a holiday?' Glenn asked casually as he picked up his food. 'Yes, sir. Bonnie and I are both students at Mays Academy. Today is a holiday, but we have to go to school tomorrow. Leila really wanted to enjoy the delicious food as much as Bonnie, but she was a polite girl, so she took the time to answer Glenn's question. Oh,' Glenn nodded slowly and then asked, 'May I ask, is there any magic in your subjects? Hearing this question, Leila gave him a strange look, and even Bonnie raised her chubby little face with the same expression. 'To learn magic, you have to go to the Magic Tower and find a special teacher. The academy doesn't have one, but some basic knowledge is needed,' Leila explained. Leila explained quietly. Um... I don't know much about it. Glenn looked embarrassed. 'I see.' Leila didn't pursue the matter. It wasn't surprising that Glenn didn't know much about it, as the original host had no knowledge in this area in his memory. The original host had not been to school for many years, and the knowledge he possessed was equivalent to a primary school education on Earth. Of course, as a second generation rich child, he used his parents' wealth to indulge in luxury, so who would choose to go to school? This also led to his lack of knowledge about many common sense things. Soon the three of them were full. Glenn had a big appetite, so he had prepared a lot of food, and as long as he ate less, there would be enough for the guests. The three of them chatted casually during the meal, which helped to bring them closer together. The two young girls began to let their hair down, revealing their original vivacious side. Glenn, too, didn't look as serious as he had in the beginning, and occasionally he would c***k a joke that would make the girls laugh. Mr Glenn makes a really delicious lunch. If I could have it every day, I would do anything,' Bonnie said contentedly, patting her stomach. Who would cook for a glutton like you? If there was anyone, you would eat them out of house and home,' Leila teased in due course. Of course I would love to let you try more dishes, but you have to be brave enough to come,' Glenn chimed in. Bonnie thought of the strange atmosphere in this small town and immediately shrugged, 'I'd rather not...' Seeing the innocent look on the little girl's face, both Glenn and Leila couldn't help but laugh. After Glenn had put the dishes away, Leila said in a somewhat apologetic tone, 'This has really been an imperfect visit, and it seems that my thanks for this lunch are not enough. My mother will certainly scold me when she finds out. The basket Layla had brought contained some fruit and vegetables, bread and the like, but no meat. In those days, meat had a very high value, which was why Layla had said that. The value of a gift is not what expresses gratitude. It is enough for me to feel your sincerity. Glenn spoke from his heart. He was very fond of this well-behaved young girl, and she was the first friend he had made in this world. Layla, however, was touched by his words. They were commonplace on Earth, and anyone with a modicum of social experience could say them, but here they sounded thought-provoking. I will remember your words,' Layla said solemnly. So will I,' Bonnie echoed, also deeply moved. The three of them chatted for a while, the two little girls asking questions about the town from time to time, but Glenn didn't know the answers to any of them, so he could only tell them the truth. Eventually Glenn saw that they wanted to leave, so he offered to see them off. Well, it's not that close to home, and it would be bad if it got dark on the way. Hurry home, don't let your family worry too much. Leila and Bonnie also understood that Glenn's words made sense, so they said goodbye politely. After sending the two girls away, Glenn secretly gave the Beast the order to protect the two girls, and he had already decided on a way to make money and was ready to implement it. ... Mr Glenn is a very interesting character. Perhaps we can spend more time with him in the future,' Laila said. Laila said as they walked along the quiet dirt track. I think so too, but Laila, I still don't think it's safe here. It's best to stay with friends,' Bonnie agreed, nodding and adding, 'You know, I have an idea. Hm..." Laila thought for a few seconds, then smiled again, "Would you like to come with me? Bonnie rolled her eyes. 'You should find a strong boy. You and I are not safe together! 'Pock? No, he's even shyer than you are.' Leila couldn't help but laugh at the thought of the slightly chubby redheaded boy shivering here. Bonnie was a little unconvinced when she heard this and said, 'I'm not shy! She thought of Pock again and wondered, 'Doesn't he brag about becoming a knight every day? How can he be shy? 'You just don't know him...' Leila seemed about to tell some embarrassing story about Poke, but was interrupted by a familiar voice. 'Thank God, Leila, I've been waiting here for ages. I'm so glad you're all right. A short, middle-aged man with a dark brown beard was walking towards them, followed by two burly, strong men who were a head taller than him. Leila froze when she saw this man, her tone slightly surprised, 'Dad...' The man was none other than Leila's father, Bob. Bonnie looked at the man and then at Leila, not knowing what to say. My child, you don't know how worried I was when I heard you were here. It's dangerous! Come, follow your father. I'll take you back. Bob waved, his smile friendly. But the two men behind him kept their cold expressions, which made the two girls very uncomfortable. No, I don't want to go back with you! You almost killed Mum! Leila's tone was firm as she remembered the tragic sight of her mother in the clinic and her anger flared. Bob's eyelids twitched and his expression froze slightly, but he quickly and helplessly defended himself, saying, 'My dear child, it was just an accident. I was drunk, too, and your mother was to blame. She should have given me the money, otherwise this wouldn't have happened. OK, Bob, we don't have time for your father-daughter love. Just get on with it! A burly man behind Bob impatiently interrupted the conversation and walked straight up to the two girls, trying to grab them. Seeing the man's evil intentions, the two girls were terrified and turned to run. But the two little girls obviously couldn't outrun the adult Strongman. As they started to run, two large hands grabbed each of their shoulders. A strong force came and Layla and Bonnie were pulled to the ground. They tried to get up and fight, but the two strong men had them firmly under control and were dragging them in the direction they had come from. 'Let us go, you bastards!' The two girls shouted. 'Be a little gentle, they are my daughters,' Bob shouted in a low voice. Daughters? Haha... not since you sold them to the boss.
