Chapter 15: Glass

1409 Words
After about ten minutes, the old man came down from the second floor, holding a brown suit. He said in a low voice, 'This is the smallest size I have. You won't be able to wear anything else. Thank you, my dear neighbour,' Glenn said and took the clothes. He knew it would be difficult for someone of the old man's height and build to find clothes that would fit. He bowed and pulled the door shut behind him. The old man watched Glenn's direction of departure until the other's figure had disappeared for a long time before he let out a breath, 'Annoying boy...'. After getting the clothes, Glenn almost trotted back to the house. He boiled the water, then rushed into the bathroom, filled the tub, took off the clothes that made him feel uncomfortable and lay down in the warm water. He didn't know where the water came from and he didn't have to pay for it. He could use it as much as he liked. I remember that in towns like this there was usually some sort of water and electricity office. I don't know if there was one in this town, but there was something wrong with this town. It was normal that you could use water all the time... Glenn couldn't help thinking as he showered and became more and more interested in this town. After a pleasant shower, Glenn immediately felt much fresher. He changed into the clothes the old man had given him. As expected, they were a bit large, but acceptable. After tidying up the bathroom a little, he lit the kerosene lamp and sat down in the living room. He thought to himself, "Today's meeting was a bit of a rollercoaster. In short, it didn't go well. I just hope everything goes well tomorrow. There were no mobile phones, no entertainment and not much to do at night, so Glenn went to bed early and prepared to get up early tomorrow. At first he had trouble sleeping. He had gone to bed too early and was a bit too excited, but luckily he finally fell asleep. Shhh... A noise outside the house reached Glenn's ears as he slept. He had a very light sleep and slowly opened his eyes. He gently pulled back the covers and quietly got out of bed. He remembered that there seemed to be similar noises the first night he spent here and he wondered what it was outside. Could it be another monster like Abu? The previous owner had lived here for so long without anything happening to him, so he must be really lucky... Glenn thought to himself and soon reached the window. Through the gaps in the window he looked out onto the street. The dark view was no problem for Glenn, who had a panoramic view of everything below. Without having to look for it, he soon found the source of the noise. It was an extremely thin creature, more like a snake if you removed its limbs. Pale all over, with a round head, it was carefully rummaging through something in its own garden. What the hell is that thing? All Glenn felt was a headache. He was almost speechless at the absurdity of the situation. This thing has probably been here for a long time. The original owner was fine, which means it won't just attack the locals. Then I shouldn't worry... After a moment's thought, Glenn decided not to bother and went back to bed to sleep. As expected, there was no danger that night, and Glenn slept peacefully until morning. Today he still decided to go hunting. Although yesterday's encounter had left him a little depressed, it hadn't affected him to the point of devastation. This time there had been no accidents and the hunt had gone well. He and the beast had taken eleven boars and another elk-like creature, which was considered a bumper harvest. He picked one at random, killed it and made a wooden cart to carry it out of the forest, leaving the rest of the prey in the trap, guarded by the beast. Although the cart was not a heavy burden for Glenn, it was always a little embarrassing. If I wasn't afraid of the beast scaring people, I wouldn't have..." he muttered to himself, but kept up his pace. Since he didn't know if he would be able to sell the prey, it was best to reach the city of Duder as soon as possible, so that he could at least return home before it got completely dark. ... By this time, Bob and the two strong men had just arrived in Duder Town. The shock of yesterday made them afraid to continue on the dark road, so they found a hidden cave and spent the night there. This also made them miss the two girls who had followed them. After the scare, they returned to the town at dawn the next day. They kept a low profile in the town and did nothing to attract attention. They just walked through the streets and came to the entrance of a dark alley. This place was frequented by petty criminals and beggars, and it was obvious that the security guards rarely, if ever, patrolled the area. There are many places like this in the city, and if you get caught, it's easy to get away with it. Several people walked skilfully through the alley. In front of them was a busy room, the noise of which could be heard from afar, and two strong men stood guard outside. The strong men on guard saw the three people coming towards them, and it seemed as if they already knew who was coming. They said nothing to stop them and let them enter the room. This noisy room was full of people who drank, and they were very much in keeping with their appearance, talking loudly and using foul language. Bob and the others did not attract much attention as they entered. We are back, please inform Lord Grass,' said one of the burly men walking with Bob, approaching a man with a moustache standing in a corner. The other man glanced at the newcomers, nodded and then walked further into the room. A few minutes later, the man with the moustache reappeared and said to the three, 'The Lord says you may enter. Hearing this, the three immediately became nervous, wondering what they should say to avoid punishment. However, what was to come came, and when the three faced the strong figure standing in front of the fireplace, all the words they had prepared became confused and disordered. So you gave up your goal and fled like a pack of dogs because you saw a monster? The deep voice made the three people who had been panicking and explaining immediately stop talking and bow their heads in fear. The strong figure turned his face to reveal his terrifying appearance: red eyes, fangs protruding from his lips, very similar to the green-skinned orcs of the world of Warcraft, but there were no orcs in this world, nor would he be one. Though they had seen Glas's face more than once, it would always be as shocking as the first time. Please, let us explain! Lord Glass, I have never seen such a monster. It gave me a terrible feeling, and it was even stronger than a lion! If we don't escape in time, we'll all die! All I know is that you have made a mess of things,' Glass said calmly, winking at the several strong men standing by. On receiving instructions, the strong men carried Bob and the others out. According to the rules, those who did not do their jobs well would pay the price of a finger. If there were not enough men, the punishment would be a hundred times more severe. Faced with the pleas of the three, Glass completely ignored them. How much life force do you have left?' he suddenly said something meaningless. Except that there should be no one else in the room at the moment. The more the better, my faithful friend. You've already experienced the feeling of power, haven't you? Find more young lives and sacrifice them to me. When I am fully awakened, I will finally bring you to the highest position. A hoarse voice suddenly rang out in the room, answering Glass's words.
