CHAPTER 2

JANE'S POV

“Come in,” he said to me through the window of his car.

“Sir, I'm super grateful for what you did the other day, but Come in to do what?” I answered sharply

“Just come in, young lady, I won't bite ”, he replied.

I got in his car reluctantly

And he told his driver to take us to a 5-star restaurant

I gave him a side eye and he told me to relax.

When we got to the restaurant, he got luxurious and eye-pleasing dishes; from the way I was staring at the dishes, he could tell that I was hungry.

“You can eat”, He commanded, and I dug in like a hungry dog.

“I'll go straight to the point. I'm Jack Williams, the CEO of Marvel Record Label, and I want to marry you on contract. I need to get married so that I can become the company's president, and I can tell you also need some money. We both get what we want and everyone is happy” he blurted out those words like he was reading from a script.

I almost choked on my food and I said “What do you take me for? Do I look like those girls you can just deceive with money?”

“ Fine you saved me that day and I'm grateful for it but I can't do what you're requesting of me, I can't get married to someone I don't love,” I replied sternly

“ You can think about it, I give you one week to get your reply,” he said and walked away and I gazed at him in shock till he was out of sight.

His arrogance is Very Displeasing.

I silently walked Back home, and all that was in my head was maybe I should give it a try because life is hard on me and it'll settle my debt with ease but I've heard different rumours about him, that he's the devil himself, and he treats people with no respect.

What if I get trapped? What if I sign a contract that'll drain me?

I just couldn't make a decision, I don't want to do something I'll regret.

Work started the next morning and I was assigned to clean Jack the CEO's office because the person who cleans it has been fired.

I was about to enter the office when I heard unpleasant Voices like there was an argument going on, I decided to wait a bit to figure out what was Going on

What do you want?” Jack asked sternly like he was getting annoyed

“I have recordings of when you were domestically violating Me at the slightest provocation when we were dating; because of trauma, I Had to quit my job and focus on therapy. Now I'm Better and I'm willing to pursue a lawsuit” An unknown voice which sounded like a girl's voice said with a shaky voice. She was his ex-girlfriend

“I know you'll soon become company president and I'm willing to bring you down, you know it'll be very messy because of your status” she added while regaining her confidence

“What the hell? Kim, are you being serious Right now? You know what I can do if you try this with me, I can ruin you in seconds” he said fuming with anger

“I'm recording this conversation right now, and it'll automatically be sent to my friend when I leave here. If you try any s**t with me, she'll post everything, including the previous videos, on all social media platforms. I know you will not want that” she said with a smirk on her face.

“What do you want from me? I don't want you to sue Me” he said, trying to bargain.

She said “If you can pay me 10 million dollars I'll forget about everything and move on”

“Are you joking? 10 million dollars for what?” he asked in disapproval

“Deal or no deal” she asked with a stern voice.

“I'll tell my assistant to wire the money to you, send Your account details to me,” he said with anger

When I heard she was walking towards the door, I quickly ran to a corridor and waited till she was out of sight

I overheard him scattering all of the files on the table and throwing his laptop on the wall. He seemed furious.

He screamed his lungs out when I saw his assistant hurriedly come to ask if he was okay.

“Get out!!!!!!” he commanded.

I had to leave because things were heated up at the moment and I didn't want to be yelled at.

I was lost in thought, “is that who he truly is? Won't I be in a mess if I agree to marry him on contract? How can I even agree to marry someone like that?” I questioned Myself.

I came across A Friend I used to tutor when I was still in school. She was so excited to see me and She's now doing well for herself. She saw me and we tried to reconnect, she offered to take me to a restaurant so we could talk better.

“Jane, how's everything now? What do you do for a living?” She queried with excitement

“I clean at Marvel Record Label” I replied with a bit of embarrassment

You could see she was shocked through her facial expression

I'd be shocked too if I was told I'd clean For a living 7 years ago.

“What happened?” She asked with pity

“I dropped out because I couldn't afford my fees anymore” I replied in tears

She came to hug me. I really needed it

“If you need anything you can call me. I'll be there if you need me,” she said with sympathy

She bought me some food and gave me some money. Then she dropped me off at my house with her car.

When I got home I broke down in tears because this wasn't the kind of life I wanted for myself, I couldn't believe the girl I tutored in school was now doing better than me. I want to live a good life even if it's just for once.

Getting to work the next day, I went straight to the CEO's office

and told his assistant that I already had a reply to what we discussed the last time.

I was ushered in, and I was wowed by the ambience of the office.

“you can have your sit,” he said

I sat and went straight to the point

“I agree to marry you, but what are the things you require me to do, and how much is my pay?

“Just be obedient, follow my instructions, and be ready to act. I'll pay you as much as you want” he said with a big smile.

“I hope there's nothing s****l involved?” I inquired

“is there anything bad in having a little fun” he replied with a flirty look

“I'm not in for that” I replied firmly

“OK, I'll prepare the contract and call you for the wedding preparation, we'll meet my father too,” he said

I nodded and I left his office.
