When I saw Beatrix cast without having to use words, my chest swelled with pride that she has advanced do much on her own. Knowing she started using magic before she was 16 I was astonished, its practically unheard of. I've only heard of one other witch who was granted the gift of magic before the age 16 and that was over 500 years ago.
Seeing her wolf showed just how special my daughter is. The crescent moon on her forehead stands out beautifully against her black fur that looked almost blue in the moonlight.
Taking a step forward I tell her "Your absolutely beautiful Beatrix. And I'm so proud of you for how far you came on your own." she gives me a wolfish smile. She walks towards me and rubs her large head against me. I almost tear up that my daughter is showing me affection.
"I think we should leave you two alone for a bit." Dominic says. I give him an appreciative smile. But Beatrix looks at him with anxiety, I wonder what has here so scared to be alone with me.
"It will be fine Little flower I promise. Just scream and I promise I'll come running." he says reassuring her. She hesitantly nods her head in agreement. Looking back at me I give her a small smile to say I wont hurt her. Everyone left after she agreed to be alone with me.
"Why don't you go shift, I'll be right here when you come back." she nodded and headed behind the hedge to shift.
She walked back out in a large t-shirt and basketball shorts that I'm guessing Dominic had someone bring out for her.
I look at her and see that she is playing with the hem of her shirt. Imagining her as a small child has a smile spreading across my face.
"Come sit down Beatrix." I say gesturing towards the bench in the gazebo.
When she finally decides to sit down I take my seat next to her.
"So..." she starts "So. Tell me about yourself Beatrix." She looks at me curiously.
"What exactly do you want to know?" she asks.
"Everything I mean I didn't know that I had a daughter till you walk down the stairs."
"Okay well my full name is Beatrix Lilith Willow. I'm 17, my favorite color is yellow. I like being outside, reading and music. There's not much else honestly." shrugging her shoulders.
"Okay, well then tell me about your childhood." I said this and she visually stiffened.
She took a deep breath in to calm herself. "Beatrix you don't have to tell me if your not ready." I said worriedly.
"No, you should know. Plus you would find out sooner or later." "Okay then take your time."
Taking another breath to ready herself she began telling me everything. She told me about how her mother would beat her for no reason, how her pack members would bully her. But the thing that made it worse was when she was almost r***d.
I felt pride as well that she was so strong to go through all of that. At the same time my blood boiled with anger that my little girl went through all these years on her own. At how her mother treated her and her good for nothing pack. I wanted nothing more then to let my anger take control and rip them apart limb from limb.
Pulled from my anger by Beatrix's hand on my shoulder. "Its okay, they cant hurt me anymore." those simple words broke me.
I pulled Beatrix into my arms and cried into her hair. I cried for her lost childhood, for her lack of love, for the pain her pack caused her, even for the pain her mate caused.
When I finally let all my tears out I looked into her eyes and I saw confusion for why I was crying.
"I'm crying cause if I had known I would have been there for you and none of this would have ever happened to you." I tell her honestly.
She looks me in the eye to see my sincerity, when she sees I'm telling her the truth she pulls me back into another hug. I can feel she's still skeptical of me but that just means I'll have to prove myself.
"So tell me how did you learn such complicated spells without a coven?" I asked pulling away.
"Really those are complicated? I thought they were easy." she states as if we're talking about the weather.
I look at her bewildered. "You don't know do you?"
"Know what?" she asks tilting her head like a confused child. I can imagine her at age five with the same look.
"Elemental magic is the hardest to control, even harder to master."
"Really?" she says lost in thought. "Yes, I know coven leaders who haven't even mastered elemental magic yet."
She snapped her head in my direction to see if I'm lying. "You are one of a kind Beatrix. Your the first to receive their powers before they were 16 in over 500 years."
"The last witch who did that ended a great war and brought peace to the werewolf and witch kind. Her name was your ancestor Viola Cantini. She helped create the council so we wont have to fight in anymore wars." after I tell Beatrix this she pulls back into her mind. Probably talking to her wolf.
I give her time to process everything I just told her. When she finally removed herself from her daze she asked "So I'm the most powerful witch in 500 years?"
"Yes Beatrix, and its even more rare because your the most powerful hybrid to ever exist. And you were chosen by the moon goddess herself."
"But for what? What could be that important?" she asks to herself.
"I don't know, but I do know that I'm going to make sure your safe no matter what." I say.
I stand and extend my hand to her. "Its time you get some rest, we have a big day tomorrow." I say. When she takes my hand we start making our way towards to her room. When I drop her off I tell her goodnight and make my way to Dominic.
Standing outside his office I knock and wait for till I hear "Come in". Walking in I take a seat across from him and fold my hands in my lap.
"We need to talk." is all I say to him. He drops what he working on and gives me his full attention. "And what do we need to discuss?" he asks.
"Beatrix..." is all I say.
