The B.T.L. Park had something for everyone. The lawn stretched across several yards and boasted a play set on either end. Colorful huts painted red, green or yellow emitted beams of welcoming light. Vendors prepared their food to the tantalizing scent of fried onions, hotdogs, tacos and wholesome rice and beans. Children of all sizes and colors scampered in the sandy lots, darting across the monkey bars and soaring high on wooden swings. Laughter echoed against the waves crashing not a few feet from where they tumbled down the slide. The horizon was pitch black, but the sound of life energized the waves and peppered the darkness with twinkling signs of cheer.
