The next day, I chucked my anger and spent the day with my mother. We wandered down the stretch of Hollywood that boasted locals in costume posing for pictures. I took her to an aquarium and a nice restaurant down by the beach. Mom was getting older and it showed when she insisted on taking a rest after a few hours of shopping. We were downing frozen yogurt, my favorite dessert, when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I was surprised to see Dad standing behind me. “Hi,” I stood and wrapped my arms around him in a welcoming hug. “What are you doing here?” Though his words had thrown me off my game last night, I’d quickly bounced back.
