The Crusader leaders held a meeting at the edge of the precipice the following day and used their vantage point above Jerusalem to devise plans to lay siege, knowing they could not surround the entire city. It was decided that Count Raymond and his men would set up camp outside the southern walls of the city, while Duke Godfrey and the Normans would set up a separate camp to the north. Although most of the city would not be blocked by the siege, having two separate camps would allow them to assault the city from two different points simultaneously.
