My thoughts scattered, panic and confusion setting in. Where was Mirabel? What happened to them? Did I trust the wrong person?
"Let me see you," I cupped their faces, scanning them from head to toe with my heart beating twice as fast. "You're okay, you're okay. What's wrong? Why are you crying?"
They rubbed their little hands over their eyes, sniffing profusely and shaking in their sobs. I snapped at the guards at once who flinched at my stare. "Someone start talking or else," I growled.
"Where are they?" Karson was running to us, panic on his face and fear. Seeing him made my lips tremble. Now I too wanted to sob and lean on him. What was this pathetic attitude? It felt like since daddy was here, we could all lay our complaints.
