Chapter Thirty-One Beyond the Veil Iarion was surrounded by darkness. He hovered, weightless and disembodied in the void. For a moment, he thought he might have gone blind, but then a shimmering light appeared in the distance. He willed himself toward it. Just as he was about to reach his goal, something swooped down and seized him. It was Saviadro. Iarion struggled against the Fallen One’s grip, suddenly mad with fear. He could see nothing, but Saviadro’s presence clung to him. Even in death, Iarion could not escape him. He thrashed mindlessly, but Saviadro’s grip tightened. Let go.
