Chapter Seventeen
Taking Charge
Paige squirmed beneath the heavy body of an ogre. Her companions were already unconscious, and some of the men in furs were dragging them deeper into the forest to the north. None of them seemed to have noticed her yet. She wanted to keep it that way, so she forced herself to remain still as the rest of the men walked among the downed bodies of the dark creatures, kicking them as they went. She held her breath as one aimed a kick at the ogre on top of her. It remained silent and unmoving, but several of the surrounding goblins uttered grunts of pain.
“Take as many as you can, and kill the rest,” the man with the staff said. “We will give them to the god.”
