The pain was excruciating. For a few minutes, I thought I was having a heart attack. Me, Gio, and Zeke had just laid the three babies down in the bassinets, when the pain hit. It felt like I was being ripped into pieces and being burned alive all at once. It wasn’t until Zeke cried out for Addy that realization hit me, the bond had been severed.
I stumbled to my feet and raced down the hallways of the hospital, trying to get to Addy. I heard Hazel’s painful screams and the thunder of footsteps behind me as I turned the corner that led to the OR.
