It had been a long day of training and work. I was exhausted, but Maddy was in the marching band and had a game she had to play at and I had to pick her up. I was finishing up my shower at the training center when Drake came in with Alec. Both men were laughing loudly and making plans for the evening.
“I think I’m gonna take Serenity to Charlie’s tonight. She mentioned feelin’ cooped up, and I don’t want her to think I’m tryin’ to keep her locked up.” Alec told Drake. The warrior rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
“I could go have a beer at Charlie’s. How ‘bout you Zeke?” The big dark-skinned man asked. I glanced up from tying my shoes.
“I gotta go pick up Maddy. She’s got that band thing.” I said.
