CH 3 Pain

I was fuming as I walked down the familiar path home. I wish I could fight that asshole, Kevin's been trying to teach me but without a wolf its a little difficult. I walked through the back door and Kevin was waiting for me blocking the path to my room. I looked up at his brown eyes that were swirling with a little black. His peppered hair was slicked back and he was wearing his normal jeans work boots and black shirt. He crossed his arms over his chest . "what's up " I said looking up at him.

"what happened at school today" he said . It finally dawned on me why he looked so upset. "wow news travels fast" it literally happened not even an hour ago, I really hated the mind link packs share , it makes the gossip spread faster.

Kevin took a deep breathe slightly calming down. "El you cant just challenge people like that, especially when you cant shift to defend yourself". I knew he wasn't mad just worried, that made me happy . it was nice to have someone care about me "i wont promise you anything but I will try" I said as I hugged him. truthfully I don't know why I got so mad I normally shrug off what others say about me. Kevin hugged me back sighing " i'll take what I can get, just be safe"

he let go holding me at arms length with a smirk on his face ."since when do you wear perfume? who are you trying to impress?" he raised and eyebrow.

"why do people keep saying that" I grabbed a piece of my hair sniffing it "its called shampoo and conditioner, I do bathe regularly you know". I said walking past him to my room.

"what ever you say el" he said laughing as I shut my door.

I set my bag down on a chair in my room and laid n the bed staring at the ceiling . Our house was small but it was enough for two people. we don't pay rent but Kevin works for the pack doing odd jobs in construction and of course over version of 'boarder patrol' . even though the pack gave us the house furthest away from the main house we were happy, we preferred to keep to our selves . even though we have been with the pack for 11 years people still see us as outsiders.

I rolled over on my stomach and buried my face into my pillow. I started thinking what my wolf will look like , I have a year before my first shift but i still thought about it a lot. when Tristian shifted last year he went from this scrony nerd with glasses to a 6 foot , ripped, 20/20 vison god. it was weird how much you changed physically after your first shift. even lisa lost her glasses and acne and slimed down.

i decided to drift off to sleep for a quick nap, since today was Friday i had all weekend to do my homework.

a few hours later i woke up to the sound of party streamers being popped above me. i slowly opened my eyes groaning , Tristan and kevin were standing overs me with party hats on. " Wake up birthday girl" Tristan said shaking me "I'm awake " i said groggy.

"good come to the kitchen dinners done " Kevin said popping one last party streamer. Tristan followed kevin to the kitchen as i got off my bed my hair was a mess but i didn't care to much. i let my hair down and walked to the kitchen. the smell of steak and potatoes hit my nose and my eyes fluttered. "oh boy imma get fat tonight"

"you haven't even seen the cake yet" kevin said putting out a triple layered chocolate cake. my mouth was watering .

we ate dinner at our small round table laughing and telling jokes. everything was perfect until Tristan mentioned school. " yo el I'm so surprised about today, i wish i was there to see you put that wanna be beta in his place, someone said you kneed him in the balls"

Kevins eyes were swirling with black as he shook his head. " wow the story really got twisted, it wasn't like that at all" i said setting my plate in the dishwasher . Tristan came next to me setting his plate in as well " what ever you say" he laughed .

we cut the cake as the two goof balls sang happy birthday to me . we ate cake as Kevin put in child's play" i loved chucky movies . half an hour into the movie Tristan looked like he was going to barf. " god el how can you watch this "

" easy , I'm not a baby" i stuck my tounge out at him and he growled in a playful way. i threw a little popcorn at him. " hey watch it little girl" he mocked me " hey in 5 more minutes we will be the same age old man." i said flicking him. he laughed " that's it your going down"

Kevin watched as i lunged off the couch and Tristan followed chasing me through the house. "Don't break anything " he shouted at us. i laughed as i ran through the back door with Tristan following. he tried to pounce on me but i quickly side stepped and he hit the ground . i stopped and laughed " good job " i stuck my tounge out again.

He growled and his eyes were shifting to yellow. oh crap i took off running into the woods separating my house from the pack house. i could he Tristan behind me picking up the pace. before i knew it he was on top of me pinning me to the ground, lucky for me he didn't shift to his wolf form or it would have hurt a lot more than it did. "ouch" i winced

"don't be such a baby " he said smiling victoriously

a pain started creep through my body . i cringed and Tristan looked at me worried getting off me "El what's wrong " i scrunched up whimpering " everything hurts i feel like I'm burning on the inside." i screamed as a snapping sound came from my lower leg.

Instantly Tristan dropped to my side his eyes widening. " i just called for the pack doctor and Kevin through mind link just hold on El". i was sobbing in pain as another bone shifted and broke in my body . screams were pouring out of me.

Kevin showed up , Tristan looked at him in a panic " i don't know what happening its like she shifting but she shouldn't be shes to young and its going so slow" I arched my back and screamed as my body was breaking. why wasn't anyone helping me.

a few wolves showed up with the doctor i could barely see him through my tear filled eyes , but some how i knew it was him. "whats going on doc , whats wrong wit her" Kevin asked no one was touching me as i thrashed around howling in pain. " isn't it obvious , shes shifting just... slowly " he looked down at me with sorrow on his eyes "i cant do anything she just has to get through this.

"why is she shifting though! she's not 18" Tristan ask in feeling helpless. " isn't obvious" the doctor said

everyone looked at him and as black dots filled my vision i heard the shock gasps of everyone as he said the words i never wanted anyone to know.

"She is an alpha wolf"...
